anyone who has an rt high flow cat installed can you give a few comments on it. like if the power gains are worth it? and if you felt a loss of power on the lower end. did the car feel any bit different? also what do you think of the sound. better or worse, too loud or no substantial difference. I ve been going back and forth on this mod for a while, and im still undecided. also how are your o2 sensors holding up since you added the high flow cat?[confused]

I felt that the SVT had a quiet exhaust and the RT cat sounded good with the stock exhaust. It made the popping louder on decelleration. It was loud enough for me and gave a decent tone. Since then I've added a Borla exhuast and it sounds 'Ricey' to me, but it made the sound deeper. I think it made the exhuast slightly louder, but my mom says it is quieter. I'm not too sure, perhaps it did get quieter, but I'd really like to know how when the Borla has 1 less muffler.

I really can't comment on the power gains because I did another mod around the same time IIRC... maybe a tune... I can't remember. I noticed more power, but I also had a bit done to my car before the cat.

The O2 sensors should be fine because you are keeping a catalyst.

If you want a little more power and a slightly different and louder sound, get the cat... maybe hold out and see if one goes up for sale soon. I've seen some cats for sale every now and then.

It will be louder but not what i would call ricey by any means. I personally like the deeper tone. as far as the power increase, it is like any other bolt on, there is a small noticible difference.

I was talking about the Borla and RT cat sounding ricey. I like the sound, but you might get some people saying that your car sounds like a ricer.

The RT cat and stock exhaust sounds good.

Ditto on the RT + Stock exhaust...thats my set up and I love it. TQ went up, top end HP went up, it was well worth the money. Plus, its high quality and no fear at the emissions station.

Has anyone heard of RT cats coming apart and clogging the exhaust? I have heard this once but I would like to verify if anyone else has heard of this. An RT cat might be my next mod, if so I will get before and after dyno results, it seems like its been a mystery for too long now.

^^Hmm sounds a little odd. I don't know much about that subject.

I actually just got my R/T a few weeks ago but have yet too install it. Too damn cold here in MI. I heard a clip of it on here (or maybe it was HIA's forum) that had the R/T and the stock exhaust and I thought it sounded good. That is actually what influenced me to buy it. Originally I was aprehensive about the idea of changing the exhaust parts (because I was worried it would sound ricey). Not much louder than stock, still sounds like the SVT.

I have heard of this happening to an extremely high boosted focus (26psi) but its highly unlikely that a Normally Aspirated car will generate the heat / pressure associated with this type of hardware failure. It's possible on a fully built super high compression motor, but most of us won't be using that for the street.

the R/T cat has been my favorite mod so far... I felt a power increase at all ranges, (even low end)

I think it sounds great, not ricey at all. Not too loud, but you can definately tell it's not stock.

^ Is someone talkin' smack now? Lol, ok, I might have to take out the spare tire to get an edge on you but have no doubt that SVTF of yours is about to take a serious L [;)]

JohnMichael too....he has an L (and a rock) coming his way as well.

Yeah, well I'll see your Eibach sways and up you a 75 shot of NAWS [:D]

Seriously though man, I dunno if you even deserve a shot at "Project Pitchfork" in that hooptie of yours....maybe you should aim lower and race my F-150 first? [rofl]

So how does it increase the sound on a stock exhaust? Is it assy like the ORP? Not that the sound will change my mind, just curious.
