i am about to buy a 2008 Ford Focus 4dr 5spd manual

You sure you want a manual shift? They say clutches wear out, but IDK, I have a 2001 automatic.

 

Yeah, i have heard the manuals actually usually last a solid 250k miles. and they are fun to drive

 

I had a 2010 for 10 years same generation as the 2008 model yeah they are reliable cars.

And a clutch is considered a wear item anyway they are not designed to last forever just part of owning a manual car.

Max I recently traded a 2008 Focus SE Coupe 5 speed after 10 years of owning it. I put 167,000 miles on it. It ran just as good the day I traded it as the day I bought it. I traded for a 2018 Focus Titanium. I only had to put new brakes and a new ignition switch on it the entire time I owned it. It would get 35 mpg easily. The only thing I didn't like was it would be revving pretty high on the interstate and big trucks would blow it around. Overall it was a great car.

Hello all! i am about to buy a 2008 Ford Focus 4dr 5spd manual (USA) with 140k miles. I have done a ton of research and from what i understand these cars are very reliable, the 3 main problems are Motor mounts, sway bar links, and rocker panel rust; Does this sound correct?

Probably add valve cover gasket to the list, and for the age, struts & shocks eventually. Rocker rust is regional. If you are handy, these cars are fairly basic, and lots of YouTube videos for common repairs.

I've had a new car itch for awhile, but in the foreseeable seller's market, I'll probably wait another year. ('10 SES 4D 4AT 132k)

 

luckily I do all my own work on my vehicles, i am very mechanically inclined. This particular car i think has 140k miles and had been pretty well taken care of. Honestly i think newer cars are junk, the newer the year, the worse it is. Too much tech, wiring, and cheap chinese sensors and parts.
