Hello all! i am about to buy a 2008 Ford Focus 4dr 5spd manual (USA) with 140k miles. I have done a ton of research and from what i understand these cars are very reliable, the 3 main problems are Motor mounts, sway bar links, and rocker panel rust; Does this sound correct?

My only other car is my 96 F150 that gets 15.5mpg highway (all i drive really) so this little 4banger will be a nice cushion to the wallet as fuel prices increase.

Anything to look out for? anything i should be particularly easy on? I have been anti FWD for all of my young life!

Max I recently traded a 2008 Focus SE Coupe 5 speed after 10 years of owning it. I put 167,000 miles on it. It ran just as good the day I traded it as the day I bought it. I traded for a 2018 Focus Titanium. I only had to put new brakes and a new ignition switch on it the entire time I owned it. It would get 35 mpg easily. The only thing I didn't like was it would be revving pretty high on the interstate and big trucks would blow it around. Overall it was a great car.

Probably add valve cover gasket to the list, and for the age, struts & shocks eventually. Rocker rust is regional. If you are handy, these cars are fairly basic, and lots of YouTube videos for common repairs.

I've had a new car itch for awhile, but in the foreseeable seller's market, I'll probably wait another year. ('10 SES 4D 4AT 132k)
