Apologies if this isn't the right forum, been asked before, etc., not much of a car expert in general here.
A few days ago, I came home one night, car working perfectly fine, no signs of problems (lights working, dashboard lit up, no signals like check engine light being on, etc.), parked, and that was it. Reasonably certain I had turned off the lights as well though I've been told this shouldn't have been a problem even if I had left them on by some accident - do correct me if I'm wrong about that, however.
Next day, come down to drive, and first thing I notice is the key fob not working at all, which seemed very strange. I'd press any of the buttons and nothing happened. I unlock the driver door manually, and none of the lights come on. Sure enough, the car didn't start at all, which by this point is what I expected to be the case. It's manual drive and was left in neutral, btw. I tried to give the battery a jump from someone who had a Lexus, and the connection generated sparks, but no activity inside the car. I connected a charger to the car afterwards, also generating battery sparks, but that too ended up producing absolutely nothing.
The fact that the key fob was entirely useless, and then from there that nothing on the dashboard settings worked - I couldn't pop the trunk, for example - leaves me towards thinking that the issue would seem to be an electrical one. I guess my question then is - if it is an electrical issue, where do I go about next trying to fix the problem? I'm not smart enough to be able to read diagrams such as this one and know with any kind of confidence what to do, at least without risking screwing anything else up further.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
