Thanks for having me.
I only get heat into the interior when it's warmed up and moving down the road. By "warmed up" I am going by the temp gauge when the needle is showing top/centered. It's about to go to zero degrees F over the next couple of nights and starting it in the driveway and letting it run is not warming it up...until I'm moving. I wanted to hand-check the temp of the inlet and outlet hoses for the heater core, but I only briefly looked under the hood for them and couldn't ID them.
1. How do I find those two hoses, or what exactly am I looking for?
2. Any obvious culprits for the symptom of moving vs. parked?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Two hoses will be going thru the firewall near center of car. You may not be able to see/reach them from the top.

A thermostat that is stuck wide open can cause the heater to not work (or hardly work) at idle because the coolant is mostly flowing thru the radiator. Then when you are driving the increased coolant flow will be enough to get the heater working. Often with a thermostat stuck open the car will not reach full operating temperature...it just depends on the outside air temp.

Can anyone post a link to the step-by-step instructions on how to swap out a thermostat on a 2010 Focus? I normally go to YouTube, but none of the vehicles featured in this type of repair were 2010's and none them seemed to be what I'll need to do.

See my thread "Easy Duratec thermostat replacement." Should be the same for a 2010.
