Last year I replaced a battery in my wife's car. Then I realized the battery was leaking / boiling over and it ate battery tray bolts and the underneath support. So I replaced the parts and put new battery in thinking it was just a bad battery. I checked the voltage with car running it was around 15.2 - 15.5V. Now I have noticed the battery caps leaking so I thought the alternator was overcharging and leaking. I ordered a new alternator and proceeded to check voltage again with car running and now I get 14.2v . Anything else I'm over looking?

That is about normal. With the engine running you should see about 1 to 1.5 VDC above battery voltage with the engine off.
