Hey guys...

I have a 2001 Focus SE that has 140,000 trouble free miles on it. Today on my way into work the car was kind of quitting. For example, I'm driving and it kinda sputered out, guages went all the way to the left and the red light on my hazard light indicator went on. I stepped on the gas a little and it picked back up. Any clues guys?

Thanks

Ya know...funny story. I took it in for the fuel pump a bit ago and they changed it out or what ever and when I got it back the car idled noticibly rougher...like bad rougher....

It's still rough and I have not tracked it down yet but refuse to take the car to the dealer again

On a side note, no issues driving the car today

what you do is follow the negative wires from the negative terminal the ground is like 6 inches away just follow the little black wire and also there is another one that goes from the back eye hook to the body and that is located on the upper left of the motor if your looking at it standing over it. but take a look at those and clean them real good and hopefully that helps

How long ago? If quite recent, you may just have to let the car re-learn it's idle if the battery has been disconnected. The procedure is in your owner's manual. If it is quite a while ago, the car should have re-learned it's idle already in any case. You do not have to do the "re-learn" procedure for the car to re-learn the idle, it just takes it a lot longer to do it with normal driving vs. the procedure.

And as some one earlier mentioned, check the alternator, particularly the connector. This are know to go bad with loose and corroded wires at the connector.
