Was originally looking into a turbo for my zx5, now I'm down the rabbit hole of a 2.5 swap, again. Been reading up on it and I've gotten more comfortable with the idea of doing it and understand now what is involved and makes more sense in the long run as it's bigger, better for boost(arguably), less expensive to swap that in than turbo the 2.0, lower miles, and opens up more potential for power in the long run. Here's what I've came up with so far in regards to parts

Used running 2.5 at my local engine yard for $350 out of a 11' fusion
Used intake off a 2010 2.5 mazda 3 $100
Massive EGR, Balance Shaft, and VCT delete $100 (give or take)
used Timing cover off a 2.3 Focus $58
Massive timing kit $30
and lastly a used intake cam off a 2.3 mazda 6 $50

all in all with a tune & Tb adapter I'm looking at around $1400 vs the same price for a ghetto DIY turbo kit on a 200k mile motor, does that sound reasonable? is there anything I'm overlooking in regards to everything? I assume the 2.0 exhaust manifold will still fit, not planning on keeping it but to get it running it will do if possible.

that leads me to my next question I want to go with the 2.5 head for flow purposes and sake of simplicity, and to also get away from the 2.3 intake manifold. I know you need to replace the cams with a non VCT variant when keeping the 2.5 head, since it's only the intake side that has VCT would I be able to just replace that cam and leave the exhaust side in place? lastly I'll need the adapter plate for the 2.5 mani, anyone have any other solutions besides the massive one?
