1.5ecoboost to 2.0 Ti-VCT GDI swap?

Wondering if 2.0 Ti-VCT GDI engine from 2013 focus would be possible to swap into 2017 to replace bad 1.5ecoboost?

2013 with powershift, 2017 with the normal auto trans.

Would be bolt-on job or substantial modifications?

The idea is always cool but it would take swapping basically everything. The 2 engines aren't related, so none of the wiring for either would interchange, nor would the transmission itself because the bell housing pattern is different. It's doable with the right resources and time in theory but it would be a ton of work. You'd be treating the 2013 like a donor car and the later car like a rolling shell.

Okay, thanks.

How about the compatibility of the ford/mazda auto trans used in at least in mazda3 (possibly in focus mk2?) - anyone studied that to replace the poweshift of mk3? Or possibly the skyactive auto trans from later mazda3.

I would guess the bellhousing interface is the same as the 2.0 engine is basically the same in ford and mazda, however using different transmission as mazda never walked into the powershift trap

probably too much work though an interesting idea per se.

Again, cool idea. Mechanically the earlier 4F-based or FNR5 based transmission would mechanically fit the Ti-VCT but running it would be a challenge. The mk3 at least in the US always uses discrete engine/trans controllers whereas the earlier cars that came with those transmissions used a single unified PCM.
