Hey i was just wondering if there is any company out there selling a motor rebuild kit for the spi motor? pistons rings bearings shafts, or even a stroker kit this winter i want to rebuild my motor and throw a new tranny in there to get the speed that i want out of my spi focus.

Thanks a lot guys.

i've been searching for the same! i really want to do a rebuild before i turbo but i can't find shit!

it was jeff wb, or tin, that said they had there pistons sent off for something or other to some place and that we'd be able to get pistons from that same place i believe, try asking them about it.

Yah i wanted to bore out my heads and re-do my pistons rings bearings everything so i can max out the turbo psi when i get it. so i will have to wait until i find some type of piston kit for the spi focus before i can turbo wouldnt be worth it if i dont.

i think it has a good chance of being worth it, i think jeff might be puting out upwards of 270 hp, and close to 300 ft-lbs of torque

Even if you did sink 10 grand into building a perfect bottom with every thing you've listed, it could still get destroyed in the matter of minuets and 5psi if you dont know what the hell your doing. My stock bottom with over 100k miles that I got for free has seen over 15psi for the past couple of summers, and it still has the same compression today as it did before it saw any boost. It's all in the tuning...and the owner understanding.

Okay so i guess im asking what all will be needed before adding turbo pushing about 7-9psi and what all will be needed for my motor to handle this kind of pressure for long periods of time.

Thanks A lot Guys!

who does your tuning jeff? or do you do it?
I do all my own...every thing. I dont let any one else wrench or tweek on my car, they would'nt know what to do anyways. My car is set up so that it does'nt really require any "tuning". The low compression motor let's me keep the stock ignition timing. The fuel system does'nt really require much for tweeking either, the 5th injector only add's fuel when needed, since I have a return line fuel system I have a adjustable FMU helping with keeping the fuel pressure up while in boost. The 24lb main injectors are adjusted by an adjustable FPR. I've been runing off of a street tune. I just set it up rich and adjusted it leaner till it felt right, while listening for knock.

wow, you're f***ing smart jeff, i could never figure that shit out, do you have a tune chip?

holy hell, those numbers! stock! jesus you're a mad man, i wish you lived in NM instead of MN, anyways, how much have you put into the turbo kit

daaaamn, looks like i need to look into the jeff escort method of tuning, you've opened my eyes to an entirely different style of tuning, i'm really considering holding off on any other upgrades except the turbo and intake

The turbo that's on my Pony is the EXP mani and IHI turbo. The new system I'm building for my other Escort (96lx) will be using the 1g DSM mani and 2G turbo T25. For that, I got the manifold for $10 and Turbo for $50.
