one thing I noticed while I was underneath is that the stock exhaust looks different then the diagrams I've seen on here. on the diagrams it shows a second cat after the flex pipe, then a muffler, then a resonator and it ends with the muffler on the rear. I have the second cat, then the 2 mufflers. no resonator.

I will post some pics of mine exhaust once the sun comes uo

Looks good
thanks man. still has a long way to go but I'm definitely happy with it so far. can't wait to get the rest of the exhaust done. I know I asked in your thread already but did you go 3in for the full exhaust? I'm considering this for mine since I have the header done now.

Set up an appointment tomorrow to have the mount welded to the flex pipe. Thought I could hold out until I got the rest of the exhaust done but the taping is driving me crazy.

amen^

idea on which exhaust you want?

yeah I'm pretty much settled on getting a 3in custom exhaust made. I'll probably go with 2 high flow mangnaflow mufflers and possible a resonator to help keep the noise bearable.

Nice to see another MkIII getting serious mods, too few around.
I just wish there were more serious mods to do. I'd love for a intake manifold and cams. after the exhaust is done though I should be putting down some decent power.

You can always get a custom set of cams made and try to adapt an earlier duratec IM (a cosworth one would look nice in there). Ofcourse there's no telling what extra work that'd involve.

yeah, the big thing for me is money. this is my daily and I'm trying to do everything on a budget. so unless a company like rebeldevil or something comes out with some more power mods, i'll probably be done in that department. I still have suspension and wheels to spend money on too.

so slight bad news. I thought that it was the flex pipe that was rubbing on the frame underneath the car causing the tapping sound on take off's and hard acceleration but it turns out that it is actually he header it self tapping where it meats the flex pipe. its tapping the front sway bar area when the motor rocks back. since its the header it self, there really is no way to change that so i'm just going to have to deal with it i guess. i am going to buy a stiffer rear motor mount to hopefully help a little. i figure if the motor doesn't rock back as hard on take offs then it should help with the sound. once i get the rest of the exhaust done it should be loud enough to drown out the tapping anyway.

so to anyone thinking about buying the fswerks header, be aware of this. i cant really see anyway of fixing this issue besides stiffer motor mounts.

so i just ordered the COBB rear motor mount. seemed like the best quaility one available and i'm hoping it is a lot stiffer then the stock mount/fswerks insert i have now.

huge props to CFM. i called and told them i was going out of town at the end of next week and asked if there was anyway they could get me the mount before i left and they said they would call COBB and have them ship it from them which is California so i'll get it in 2 days. free shipping too. really great company.

Haha awesome XD was gonna say the same thing. Good excuse for poly mounts.

Yeah, I wish they offered more poly mounts for the mk3. All they have are upper and lower motor mounts right now. I figure even if it doesn't fix the taping at least i got a really nice motor mount lol

what other poly mounts do you need?

maybe LCA?

I don't know, I'm new to the whole modding thing. I know that the previous foci had full gets for all the front bushings didn't they? I'm hoping just doing the rear motor mount will be good enough but I might consider doing the TTR upper mount too.

Whiteline has some bushings out now. Not exactly sure what all they make, just saw it the other day but didn't have a chance to look it all over. Forgot until now...

I saw some for the focus st by whiteline, it was control arm bushings. don't know if they will work on the NA car though
