I say take out the factory setup completely. All factory stereos usually suck, and I think the Focus is no exception. My car was FULLY loaded, side airbags and all, except for the 9006 audiophile. I was psyched, cause I knew I was putting in an aftermarket deck anyway. I added the Infinity Basslink, 200 watts. 10" self enclosed sub, the thing is tiny. I still have all the room I need in my hatch, but my mirrors shake if I want them too. Great thump. My parents got the new Ford 500 and it has the factory subwoofer, and I had to look for it to be sure. You can barely hear or feal it. Factory units usually are very weak.

well my plans are to get rid of the stock stereo but its going to be bit by bit right now i cant afford to have my Deck installed so im just messing with the sub for now.

Cliff4ever, have you ever heard the factory audiophile svt system? That is an incredible sounding system. Even most car audio shops will tell you that. Mine has a sound unlike ANY factory system i have ever listened too. All that was needed was a slight upgrade in the sub dept.

SVT Monkey, i noticed that you said that the factory amp isnt strong enough, i am running the factory amp on a jl10w1 and really pushes it hard. Most of Fords high end amps are stable at 1/2 an ohm. They are strong for what they are.

B16Sir, so your saying that it sucked until you upgraded it, thanks for proving my point. And AK, install the deck yourself, it has to be the easiest car job you can do yourself. Don't pay someone else to install it, unless installation comes free from a store.

ok i have installed decks on all my old cars . 84 ford ranger , 91 Chevy C1500 , 1989 olds 88, Chevy S10. I just wasnt sure how hard it would be on my focus...since this is my first time messing with one of these cars.

So just another question, is there any kind of device in the stock unit that cuts out any thing else if you remove it? i know that on the new chevy pickups you have to hook up the old hu inder the seat so you can still use your Cruise control because some how the cruise control is linked to you sterio.. stupid i know but i just want to make sure that is nothing goofy like that on the Focus.

Dang lol that sucks. I went into a local sterio shop today and asked a guy and he got all anel "Its a FORD not a chevy" that was his reply, he was a real dick about it.

I don't see why you would want to take out the Audiophile sub. I can see if you were going to get a huge upgrade in performance, or maybe velodyne made a car sub but I don't know how much louder you would want to go. If you go louder you should definitely go with putting acoustic mats through out the car, simply because it is going to shake the crap out of it.

From my listening to people's cars with huge subs I just don't see why you would want it. From trunk rattle to pretty much everything in the car rattling it won't sound any better. It will punch harder sure, but audio quality could very likely go down.

well mostly because my sony sounds alot better than the audiophile. i can fine tune everything where my audio phile i cant really do much at all but fade my speakers. and im not giong just for a big sub i really want a much cleaner sound than what i have right now. if i just wanted a loud sub woofer i would just change the amp and leave the hu in but thats not all i am going for. trust me my old HU sounds a LOT better than the audiophile.
