Hi guys, I would like to enhance the shifter feel. But I see different kinds of bushings. Some are for the shifter base inside the center console:
Steeda Focus ST Shifter Base Bushing Kit (13-15 ST) 555-7060 - Free Shipping!
Some are for the transmission cable bracket inside the engine bay:
Steeda Focus ST Transmission Cable Bracket Bushings (13-15 ST) 555-7061 - Free Shipping!
Also, those are for the ST, I was wondering if they would fit the SE.

Please feel free to post your own advice, or other manufacturers.

Thanks.

I just emailed Steeda asking if they will work in the 5 speed. If they don't I suggested that should make some that will!

the shifter base bushings are the same as the N/A Focus. However, I believe the cable bracket bushings would be ST specific, simply for the same reasons as the ST shifter throw reduction kit offered by FSWerks is ST specific, for the six speed.

I got the JBR shifter base bushings and OMG the difference made me fall in love with my car again!

*Ahem*

In all seriousness, the difference was night and day. The oem rubber bushings are complete shite! I got a steeda state and was having issues getting to reverse even after I finally got the transmission bracket installed. (Still have no idea why it was ever an issue.)

Anyway, after getting the new bushings put in my shifter went from ĂĽber slop to want to have an excuse to stop at every light on the street because shifting is so much fun again. Everything smoothed out and feels very precise.

so far i have done.

Steeda STS w/ trans bracket
JBR shifter base bushings
Needless torque shifter cable bushing (on shifter side)
solid aluminium bushings on transmission end (fastmkcparts on ebay)

The aluminium bushings made the biggest difference. Right now the shifter is perfect, nice and tight. You get a nice "click" feel from the shifter when the gear is engaged.

Edit: I never really checked to see if our shifter bracket on the trans had bushings but I did give it a good shake and it seemed solid.

Can you show the parts Mike_Mac you used with needless and fastmkcparts... they are ST bushing confirm to fit? if so it's on my purchase list :)

thanks!

This is the needless torque shifter bushing. It's advertised for the ST but fits the same locations on the 5spd.

Hit me up I have an extra one laying around I think.

It's not better to have a solid one on the shifter end?

Answered my own question... i guess it need to flex a little bit :)

How easy was that to install? I'd feel more comfortable with that in their than the Needlesstorque one.
I would say the same as the needless torque. Only difference if you need to separate the other end of the plastic insert to get the green cup out.(cut it off with a small burr or cut off disc) Only took me 1hr total to do, including removing the intake/battery tray and to put back together.

The one from Needlesstorque is plenty good for the shifter side. It works well on the trans side too but I've read a few posts about it backing out if not installed properly on the trans side. I also have a lot more vibrations for it to deal with now because I upgraded my engine mounts.
