which optuma batt

which optuma batt should i go with the red or yellow top which one is better with proformance
thanx guys

red top here too.
you can get a smaller bodied optima red too. just ask the parts store for a honda (quick, slap me...i said the h word...) group size. it will fit under the battery cover with no mods and is the same cca and stuff

Red top is for normal vehicles. Yellow top is for people with a large electrical draw (big system, lots of lights, etc.). Red is cheaper. I'd get the red.

Any chance of a part number ?
Especially the one mentioned for a Honda that would fit without modding the battery cover.
Is it for a civic, accord,etc?
Thanks

i didnt know there was a differace between the too.. i was jus wondering y the yellow was more than the red.. i guess i know why..

The Red top is for starting the vehicle. The Yellow SHOULD NOT be used to start the car. Optima even says using the Yellow as a starter will void the warranty. Yellow are only to be used as secondary batteries for audio, hydraulics, etc.

^^Interesting since on Optima's website they state that the yellow top is dual purpose for starting and deep cycling.

OPTIMA YellowTop Benefits

Dual Purpose starting and deep cycling.
Lasts up to 2 times longer than other batteries.
Constant performance quality keeping your battery running at the same level even as it's being discharged.
More power in the initial 1, 3, 5, and 10 seconds of the starting process than comparably rated conventional lead acid batteries.
Ideal for seasonal use, fully charged, it can sit unused for up to 12 months at room temperature (or below) and still start a car.
15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries.
Nonspillable and can mount in almost any position.

what optiuma battery is better

i was woundering which optiuma battery would be better for proformance red or yellow top

Moved to "Ford Focus Technical Chat"...

Red top is for daily starting duties.
Yellow top is a deep cycle battery which would be better for I.C.E. type applications.
Tech specs-RED
Tech specs-YELLOW

Notice, the red top has more CCA (Cold Cranking Amps), but the yellow top has more reserve capacity.

red=performance
yellow=stereo
I believe I read somewhere that the yellow top is not to be used to start the car, if it is than its warranty is voided.

Optima calls the yellow top a dual purpose battery and specifically says it is designed for starting as well as has a high reserve capacity (what you need for electrical components be it a sound system, high intnsity lighting, etc.).

^^^It also says for the yellow top^^^
In this link...>>>Clicky...Sports Compact Power. [confused]
And there's a picture of...cough cough...a Honda.

I'm definitely getting myself a yellow top......

*looks over my GLOW and future I.C.E. plans*

Yep. GOnna need it.
