dash removal

just the dash?

here's what I want to do to my new Focus:

I have a fuzz buster that I want to connect to the ignition (when the car's on, the FB is on, otherwise it's off). I want to run the power cable so that it comes out of the dash against the windshield and goes straigt the the radar detector. So, basically, the wire sticks out 6 inches from the dash on one end, and on the other end it wires into the car (the radio's power source, probably?)

So here's what I'm gettin at: If I just want to remove the dash and run a cable through (or maybe just prop the dash up enough to feed the wire through), what do i actually have to remove? I DEFINITLY don't want this to be a 7 hour project, 1 hour would be more like it. I know that on my old '96 neon, it literally took 5 seconds to remove the top of the dash - you just lifted it up and slid it out.

I have an 03 ZTS. Anyone have any advice? Thank you!!!

Thanks for that reply, Phoenix. That was a huge help. I use my fuzz buster in the middle of the windshield (near the bottom, of course), and I don't want to see the wire. Maybe if I just leave the dash idea all alone and just shove the wire in between the windshield and the dash it'll work alright. Thankx, again, for the great link!
