well, i went to install my nopi cai. i got it on, got the battery back in and started it up. i let it sit for a couple minutes and checked for leaks and all was good. got in, backed it off the ramps and took off. what the f****!?! my low end torque and acceleration was *****! "well, maybe its just gotta relearn the maps, etc." drove for 20 miles and nothing changed. stopped and popped the hood just to look around and make sure everything still looked good. when i started it back up the CEL came on.... came home pissed off and tore that friggin thing off and put my FS cool flo back on hoping to sweet jesus that it would go back to normal. took off a half hour later, and the exact same crap happened.

heres the symptoms--

no throttle response or acceleration. backfiring when i let off the throttle at low rpms(below 4k). below 2k its damn near impossible to do anything but coast. its horrible. i think its either the coil pack, or the dsi.

anybody got any guesses, i 'll let you know what the milliondollar answer is tonight, ON "WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAR NOW!!"

DSI would NOT do that. You might for some reason have a bad o2 sensor. Code will be SLOW response on Bank 1 or something like that. That woudl be my guess. It is a known prob on the SVT and those are some of ths symptoms. Also Check for Vacuum leaks on something u might have loosened when u installed the intake. LEt us know what they say.

Sounds like a TPS or MAF to me. I got that same symptoms when I didn't plug in the TPS when I installed my TB.

i recently had a bad TPS (shorted internally, was reading WOT when it would short)

while driving i had the same symptoms you have. Sop my vote goes for the TPS.

They're easy to check if you have a multimeter

...ditto tps.... or you sucked a bird in your CAI...The dsi is easy enough to check, look to see if the cable came off.

Yea, Check the DSI Cable, but come to think of it my money is NOW on the MAF and the TPS which you can easily knock off when replacing an intake.

Yeh the reason I said TPS is I ported my TB and when I put it back on I forgot the TPS wire on, the car ran fine, just was sluggish and... well all the things you described :)

yeah, i got the memo... i just forgot. well, i really hope it is the tps or maf. i didn't touch the tps and was super careful with the maf meter when swapping it over... i know how damn sensitive these things are. i still haven't heard back, i'm sure they'll get ahold of me tuesday morning. anyone know where i can buy a cheap spare maf meter? after this bs, i'd rather spend the money on a second one so both of my intakes have one attached, no swapping(assuming this is the problem). i know you can get tps sensors on cfm.com.

the nopi cai seems alright quality wise. the filter does indeed bite. it looks good, but its just some metal screening, no oil like the k&n. it sounded good when i got into the upper rpms, even with my car running like crap. i'll let you know if i put it back on, and how it is.

well SVTDavan, you win the fabulous No-prize! it most certainly was the MAF meter. of course, having the cool flo on, the dealer gave me a complete run of the "you know, we don't have to cover that blah, blah blah blah ima bitch blah blab blab". of course i had to talk to the guy, not the cute girl that works there... but he said he'd get it covered under warranty this time. i'll fill you in more later, gotta go to sleep before i lose it.[}:)]
