I'm looking into getting a CAI for my car. Specifically:

http://www.newedgeperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=273

The Marcy Motorsport one, since I hear that it has a higher gain average compared to others, and is pretty cheap.

How hard are these to install, and are the gains that noticable that I would be happy dropping almost 200$ on this? I've never modded a car really, and this is my first car that I really want to work on..

soon I'm gonna add some ICE and maybe a carputer.. but first, I need some zoom before I start with the inside :)

You will definitely notice a difference. The non-PZEV'd Duratecs experience a little less gain when adding a CAI because they're slightly less restricted to beign with.

Also, install is very simple. Taking all the stock junk out probably takes as long if not longer than popping the new tubing and filter on! Check out the install page on the Marcy site, it's really pretty straightforward.

I'd say the Marcy is a good choice, all the options show similarly gains and all will give your engine a lot more pep so you really can't go wrong... you'll love it[thumb]

It really is not difficult to do. The hardest part is removing the old intake. If you can follow basic instructions you CAN do it.

rreally if you can't install this intake, sell the focus and buy a taurus or something cuz you shouldn't be around cars.
That's not very nice.

Sorry, but I've never really worked on cars. This is the first car I've wanted to work on.. but thanks for your support anyway.

I never worked on a car before this one. After seeing these done and working on them I can say that it really is quite easy to do this mod. You should try and do it yourself, it will be a good confidence builder.

i know its not nice but this was the first mod i've ever done to a car. I had virtually no trouble with it. Your welcome for the support. Go through with trying to do it yourself. Make sure you have a jack with some jack stands and you will be okay

It's an option if you wanna install it yourself or have somebody else do it...whatever floats your fancy. [:p]

I never was thinking of having a mechanic do it. Exhaust on the other hand.. I don't want to cut piping or anything.. so.. yeah.

I just wanted to know how easy it would be for me.

The install of the CAI is as straight forward as you can get...even with no mechanical skills. Even the exhaust is a simple mod, as long as you have access to a jack and stands. You don't really need to worry about cutting the exhaust either...after all...that is exactly what the mechanic will be doing (along with taking even more of your money).

Give it a shot your self...everyone has to start somewhere![:D]

How will an aftermarket intake affect your warranty?
As long as the CAI is not directly related to any damage or engine failure, your warranty will still stand. If you are worried about it you can always replace the stock parts befor you take it in.[;)]
