I just purchased my first car which happens to be a 2006 Ford Focus ZX4 SE and i love it. I plan on doing so much with the car but i don't know where to start. The only thing i've done was replace the radio. I'm a self-taught Computer Technician with 13+ years experience and a quick learner. I plan on doing all the modifications to my car so i can learn and save a bunch of money that would go to mechanics. [ffrocks][loveff]

Welcome to FF!

Hang around the Forum a while & you'll get plenty of ideas on fixing up your car.

Checking it over & doing any maintenance it needs is really the best place to start. Learning what's normal & what things look like while you save money on "simple" jobs will help when you want to tackle something more involved.

Haynes or Chilton manuals aren't a great help to the experienced mechanic who's looking for detailed information, but they're cheap & help the novice get started with the easier jobs. Lots of basic info. in there for a first time mechanic.

Enjoy the new Focus!

Can't forget Upstate myself, I'm near the far end here! (Buffalo area)

Running joke about City people who think Canada begins near Albany.

I was in Kentucky years ago heading home & told Police when pulled over for a check that I was heading for NY. Almost ran me in for lying to them since I was heading North & they KNEW that was the wrong way to go to get to NYC. Long explanation about the distance between NYC and the other end of the State. They just couldn't understand heading north thru Ohio to get to NY, should be going east thru WV & PA to get there.

Cheers

welcome, I'm over in Buffalo NY
