Been trying to live with it since March, not going too well. Car is miserable to drive in stop and go traffic and I have experienced loss of throttle numerous times which is very scary. Still grinds and etc, nothing has improved. It's okay if your cruising the turnpike or highways at 65+.

I am stuck with the car, for now. Will be trading it in down the road for something else.

To answer the original question: YES, you can learn to live with the PowerShift DCT. I have a 2012 SE, with the DCT. So far, the car has had all updates, plus a new clutch assembly, solenoids and a new TCM. I now have approx. 28K on the car and I STILL love it! The car is an absolute blast to drive!

Living with it and being satisfied with the product are two different states. I live with the DCT, but I'm not satisfied with the stop-and-go driving performance.
why in the world should anyone have to spend 20,000+ of their hardearned money for a new automobile from a world class manufacturer and then

just "live with it" ?

Love it or leave it.
option 2 has been awesome every day since.

I was amazed as it took over two weeks to quit subconciously cringing each time it shifted

8,000 miles and not one single stutter or hestitation and not one single thing I should just "live with" or I'm not driving it right.

Then why are you still lurking the focus forums? Doesnt make sense shouldnt you be in the I love my mazda 3 100% thread? Oh wait..
We have to stay on topic here or our posts get deleted, regards

I have a "base" dct with the L no S and the hill assist button.

Basically i have found that in stop and go traffic under 50 i leave hill assist on. It seems to hold gears longer which makes a huge difference in stop and go.

Highway driving is nice lots of power.

My wifes 2003 sunfire i had to learn to drive too as its torque converter is finicky (doesn't grab very fast so you can spin the tires or jerk the car very very easily)

My moms 95 civic si manual had a crazy touchy throttle that if you weren't careful you could rock the car off the gas then back on it again creating a crazy bull ride if you didnt pull your foot back( basicly on the gas / off the gas/ on / off if you didnt move your foot)(took a while to figure out what was going on lol)

so i dont think its just the DCT that you have to learn. every car has a quirk or 2.

The obvious answer is that not every dealer service dept. is "world class".

This is already very well known so there is no need to keep rehashing it.

Here to talk down the Focus to reaffirm his decision to get a 3?

I drove a 2012 Mazda 3 for a few weeks as a loaner while my wife's 6 was in the shop. Those few weeks were the reason I didn't even consider the 3 when I purchased my car.
