I want to go back to race header but i don't want to have cops around as i did before..

Another concern is that magnaflow i had on for 20k is really getting louder. I am thinking to get resonator and catalyc converter. But what if I have both??
1.Cat conveter to race header and resonator to the staright pipe of cat-back??
or..
2.Cat converter+resonator on the straight pipe of cat-back??

if you like the tone of the car with the race header, just get a high flow cat. the resonator will change how the exhaust sounds

where in MO are you from?

sry forgot you were in CA but just a high flow cat and a new muffler should do the trick of keeping the cops away

Focus sport makes a very nice system especially for your focus if you plan on running a race header. It makes a very nice exhaust note and won't draw in the cops. It is a little expensive but it is top notch quality.

The cat will be much more expensive than a resonator and actually I believe the resonator will get you where you need to be sound wise. If you are uncertain I would add the resonator first then if it's still too loud add a cat or maybe even a second resonator. Sounds like a lot of extra custom work maybe you should look into changing to the SVT setup from mcnews, you can get it with or without the cat.

if your muffler seems to be getting louder its sounds to me like the internals of the muffler are breaking down. might try a different performance exhaust out

focusedat50 you don't seem to get it. tone and volume are two totally different things. resonators control tone and cats. and mufflers control volume GET IT STRAIGHT!!

and you call yourself a fanatic

hmm..i m confused..
whati need to do first??
resonator or cat??
living in CA is really sucks..cannot do tint, no loud exhaust, no euro plate, etc..

i know how loud is race header setup, i had this setup before.
this time not sure which one to get, resonator or cat to kill the loudness..

Functionally, most resonators will decrease the sound somewhat, but unlike a muffler that is not their primary purpose. There's a reason the SVT Borla is a little more quiet than the standard Borla...and that's because of the resonator.

Since your from California, how are you going to pass emissions if you don't have a cat? It won't be hard for them to know if you don't have one. If they do a five gas on our car, they will definitley know by the o2 readings that you don't have a cat.

i don't even know when i have to take this smog test.
having cat or not isn't a problem here i believe.

Thank you Hubris for stepping up to this. Correct. The resonator on the SVT Borla does quiet down the exhaust. The trademark Borla sound is generated by their muffler. Hence the reason the non-SVT Borla without the resenator still sounds like a Borla just a little louder.

get an O2 cheater plug; it gives off the correct readings so if you get it and thats how they check they will never know unless they look
