You can count me as one. Actually all 3 of my MK3 focii has the DCT and they are all problem free. The 12 SE has ~16K, the 12 Ti has ~11K, and the 13 SE has 400 miles.
Jesus. Four new cars in < 2 years? That's well over $60k. Are you a drug lord?

But seriously, I hope there isn't an inherent design flaw in the DCT, otherwise you're screwed! [:p] For what it's worth, my noises started at ~22k miles.[dunno]

The 12 SE was 22K, the 12 Ti was 27K, the 13 SE was 23K and the 13 escape Ti was 35K so ~107K in vehicles
I work at a steel mill as an electrician. Actually the 12 SE belongs to my 23 yo daughter, but I did give her 10K to put down so her payment is nice and low. Also the 13 SE I got for my 15 yo is a lease.

BTW I traded a 11 fusion SEL loaded for the escape and it was 29K when I bought it. So if you count that, I've had 136K in vehicles is the last 2.5 years.

Please do yourself a favor and keep the wheeling/dealing separate from the looking/driving. Go drive it....then leave. Email the dealer back and 2 others and ask for their best out-the-door price including a full break-out (taxes, tags, fees, etc.) if you are interested. Do you homework online, you should be able to get at least invoice on the car - incentives. The Focus is great...6K on mine and no issues...but I got the manual!
Manual ftw!

I believe your numbers are based on the 2012 Focus. I'm going through the NHTSA complaints for the 2013 Focus, and there seems to be ~10 genuine issues about the DCT (grinding transmission, oil contamination, shifting issues, etc.) - the rest of powertrain complaints are about the Focus Electric, rolling backwards, the transmission making noise when you open the door, etc.

(Granted, the 2013 Mazda3 and Civic currently have zero powertrain complaints [;)])

In 2013, the "STOP SAFELY NOW" issue with the Focus Electric seems to be pretty common.

Going on ten plus years owning Focuses I've always been very satisfied. The MK3 is definitely the best built focus ever, hopefully they handle the DCT issues but I'm very happy I choosed a 5 speed SE sedan with the 201A package.

Focus handling... is hard to compare to.

These things will cut up corners around all kinds of other, more expensive vehicles. I've auto-crossed against them; hell, find the same stretch of twisty road with the car's in question: the feel is soooo much better in the Focus.
Some of the G's I was pulling on twisty roads last year in the focus were actually pulling on my neck. Agreed, the driving feel is great.

Toyota and Honda's quality and or features has went down over the past years while Fords has went up. Id put a Ford up against pretty much any non luxury import and Id bet it would win. Plus its always going to be cheaper....

What uncertainties? Their basically Focuses anyway also.....even if Mazda went under Id bet you could get it serviced at a Ford dealer.

Everything you said is inaccurate. Ford sold its interest in Mazda. Focus and the Mazda 3 have nothing on common.

No, it's the AT. It handles very nicely though. There's a traffic circle I sometimes drive and yesterday I was having fun and easily going around upwards of twice as fast as the others. About 1/2 way around I had to slow way down for the goobers in my way.

Probably not unless they got lucky and the dealer happened to have ordered a 1.6 L EcoBoost 6MT for dealer stock. The vast majority of the Fusions are the 6F35.
Wasn't asking you, suss, we all know how well-versed you are in Ford's ordering system, no need to stick your half-a-penny in at every turn.

While I have you, though, what are your thoughts on the Fusion's gear ratios? Are they optimal?

I was playing the odds of probability on that one, but anyway.

It appears that the 1.6 L EcoBoost in the Fusion uses the same gearbox as the Fiesta ST with a shorter final drive. The spec sheet only lists one final drive not two, therefore it can't be the MMT6 used in the Focus ST.

1st gear Fusion 3.73:1 vs Fiesta ST (B6) 3.72:1 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 3.231:1
2nd gear Fusion 2.05:1 vs Fiesta ST (B6) 2.05:1 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 1.952:1
3rd gear Fusion 1.36:1 vs Fiesta ST (B6) 1.36:1 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 1.321:1
4th gear Fusion 1.03:1 vs Fiesta ST (B6) 1.03:1 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 1.029:1
5th gear Fusion 0.82:1 vs Fiesta ST (B6) 0.82:1 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 1.129:1
6th gear Fusion 0.69:1 vs Fiesta ST (B6) 0.69:1 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 0.943:1
Reverse gear Fusion unlisted vs Fiesta ST (B6) 3.8:1 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 4.600:1
Final Drive: Fusion 4.07:1 vs Fiesta ST (B6) 3.82 vs Focus ST (MMT6) 4.063/2.955.

So given this, and given that the Focus 1.6L EcoBoost in Europe and the Mondeo are also using the B6 gearbox as well it seems more likely that the Fusion is using the lighter duty transmission.
