Ok so I got ready to leave from college last night and all of a sudden my shifter started giving me trouble it wont go into 5th and stay it just slides over into 3rd and reverse wont hold either it will slide over into 4th, 1st and 2nd feels a little loose but 3 and 4th are tight any ideas I did a little research and found that the clip occasionally breaks where the cable enters the trans but not sure what im looking for or how to access it please help oh also the car has 75k miles on it.

Check the shifter cables if they popped out of the bracket on top of the tranny, or the roll pin on the shift tower could be broken.

Ok so I got around to looking at it today and discovered that the lower cable came out of place because the plastic nut that holds in place broke slighty got it to tighten down and fixed for now but does anyone know what this part is called and where can I get another one

Shifter cables come as a unit, the new ones are spring loaded so they snap right in
