Put your panties away and get a real car with a stick. Auto's are for sissies. They all truly suck.

Having a manual transmission is half of the excitement. You're one with the vehicle. I don't care if some automatics are slightly faster. There is much less fun and driving excitement. Anyone who owns a car with a stick can attest to this.

Why would a drivers enthusiast's car be made for the DD crowd?
i agree...

I personally love driving a manual car, i feel like im in more control, i can feel the power and hold it in the gear i need it to be in.

the only down side is traffic... and a really big hill lol but even those arent too bad

i would have grabbed a manual focus in Dec when i got mine had there been a yellow one on the lot but there wasnt and i couldnt wait 3 months to order one. so i got an auto...and as much as i love my focus, i can not wait to trade it for my ST.

Why would anyone want anything other than a manual transmission with a turbo charged motor?[facepalm]
Because I may want to take a sip of coffee the very moment the light turns green.

However, it is not financially practical for ford to offer this in north america IMO.

you know they'll probably drop the stick for an auto with paddle shifters as a last minute change [rofl]

so true... for Ford that is. I know other manufacturers (though I can't think of them specifically, I guess GM is one) turn the "sport" model, or the one with the bigger engine into an auto-only model and really screwed the sales.

What I don't get is these scenarios that are being brought up in here. You act like a manual is a new thing... If you own one, you know that light's going to change any second and wont take a sip of coffee, OR put it in gear and use the clutch so when you take that sip the second the light changes, you get moving and put the cup down. Done it with plenty of drinks, it's not rocket science.

Nah I just find it funny people have to pick specific things like that as if there's no way to avoid it; sounds like my dad. It's called adaptation.

...because people are too damn lazy. Specifically, American's are too damn lazy. No where else in the world does the "general public" prefer an auto. Nowhere.

And oh yeah...when manufacturer's don't offer a manual in a sports car, their sales tank. Go figure. DON'T make an enthusiast car for the general public, who want an auto.

Well you don't speak for me, I learned how to drive a stick when I was 13, and my first car was a stick. My last car with a stick was a 370Z, and the fun factor was outweighed by the pain in the ass factor. I think a DCT or some sort of paddle shift setup is ideal for a lot of people.

Again we are talking about a Ford Focus with FWD, for god's sake, let's keep it in perspective...

They both have their advantages... to say every part of one sucks is ignorant. Autos are Good for towing, good for turbocharged drag cars (keeps boost up the whole time), offroading, insane stop and go traffic, people that can't multitask but attempt to do so anyway...

I vote ford puts a MANUAL CVT in it. yeah I said it. manual cvt. explain that one [rofl]

It is FWD. So what? If you know how to drive, there won't be a problem.

Speaking of the ST, in Michigan where I live, there are tons of ST's already out on the streets with MFG plates for testing, have been for a year now. I spoke with a guy last Friday on Woodward where we cruise and occasionally have fun on the roads...he said the ST was amazing for a FWD car. 0 torque steer. 0 traction control issues. Punch it from a dig, it just flies. His wife showed up in a heavily modified Lightning and their friend with them had a Murcielago. I am pretty sure he wouldn't make shit up as far as control and how well the car drives.

thats pretty awesome, i havent seen any around here, if i do im tracking dude down!

but im happy to hear about the torque steer and traction, my SRT4 had pretty good torque steer. I love having the car when i wasnt fixing it though!
which, for those that dont know, was a FWD turbo... so i dont see why calling out the ST makes any sense.... a lot of newer cars for this generation are going to front wheel drive.
