anyone else having issues with an iphone with 5.1 loaded and the My Ford Touch. Basically what started happening after 5.1 was loaded is connecting via bluetooth how I used it before 90% of the time it starts to connect displays my phones name then says disconnected in the audio area even though the phone is connected in the phone area. When i hook it up usb with an iphone cable it will display song names and artwork and let me cycle through all the songs but then will not play any audio. Just timers down the song and goes to the next with no audio coming out over the speakers.

I have not gotten the upgrade usb stick in the mail yet so this might fix the problem.

I've read some guys having iPhone related quirks... sometimes it has to do with the phone being paired via bluetooth AND plugged in via USB at the same time.

I have a 4s and the 5.1 i0S and haven't had any problems. The only problem I had & still have is when I'm playing music and shut the car off and then turn the car back on, the music doesn't play, but the timer still counts down. Unplugging and plugging it back it fixes it for me

Ok so weird. I have paired the phone multiple times and I'm getting no where. The phone section always works. After I click BT media for the music bam device disconnected. Called apple they tell me I need the ford upgrade. Unfortunately I have the nav card so I can't just download one off the website.

As a workaround I made a USB stick but it exhibits the same appears to play music but nothing comes out the speakers just like the USB iPhone hookup.

So I still dont have working USB but I managed to trick the MFT into playing music from my iPhone but it was discovered by accident. Like I said I had upgraded the iPhone to 5.1 from 5.01 and it would not connect. But I had not upgraded my iPad to 5.1 yet. So I loaded a few songs onto it and paired it with the car. I went to hit BT in the audio portion and it said iPhone disconnected i felt dismayed but hit it again and got the message connecting to iPad and then it started to play music off my iPhone and not my iPad. you say how do you know. Well the songs it was playing were not on the iPad for sure as i had just loaded a few songs.

Also made an MP3 cd which played the music fine but does not seem to read any song information or id3 tags.

I've recently upgraded to iOS 5.1 on my 4S and I don't have any issues. I've also upgraded to the new version of MFT w/ no issues. My phone is connected via bluetooth and connected to USB and I can play music via bluetooth and through USB. I do have the issue of leaving the phone plugged in, shutting the car off and turning the car back on and the audio doesn't work. I generally take my phone with me, but unplugging and plugging it back in fixes that problem.

This is because of how Sync interacts with the iPhone. The same thing happened on my 2010 Mustang and still happens on my 2012 Focus. What is happening is if you have the iPhone connected to USB and setup to pair over Bluetooth, the iPhone switches to send audio over Bluetooth when Sync pairs with the phone. So if you have MFT set to use USB, audio stops. What you can do click on the home button and there should be a rectangle with and arrow on your iPhone (location varies depending on app). Tap on that and it will give you a menu of Sync and Dock Connector. Tap on Dock Connector and your audio will play through the USB.

Yep! Saved me a lot of typing! Haha

That's exactly the problem... Does the same thing in my Raptor with the factory sync and Nav. I find how you can avoid this is to wait until after the Bluetooth is synced up before plugging phone in... Don't plug in before starting car.

there are known issues with iPhone 4's and ALL versions of sync in all models currently.

mft3 and bluetooth wont' connect to iphone4 5.1. (at least for the stereo. it works just fine for phone calls).

Rightwhen it first happened, i spammed the forums about the issue. Resetting, repairing has helpedsome. However, today when driving to work i was streaming pandora and mft just kicked my phone off 30mins in and it did t want to reconnect.

I guess ill have to reset and repair again... but i can see this getting old fast.

Certain phones are known to hold a better connection when they're Reverse Paired. If you need to perform a Master Reset again, I recommend trying this. Instead of the usual process where your phone finds SYNC, SYNC will find your phone.

Reverse Pairing:

Go into your Bluetooth Settings on your phone and make sure Discoverable mode is set to always or ON (The iPhone is already discoverable).

Touch ADD A PHONE.

Touch FIND OTHER DEVICES.

When your phone shows up on the MFT screen, select it.

Type in the Pass-key of 0000 and touch ENTER.

Your phone will now ask you to enter in a Pass-key, type in 0000 and the equivalent of OK.

Both devices should now connect.

I hope this helps!
