Time from order to VIN number?

I'm just curious about how long it takes to get your VIN number from the time your Focus order is placed by the dealer. I realize it could vary. All the dealer says is "6-8 weeks from time-of-order sent to car arrival.

I ordered an SE Hatchback 5MT 201a with Winter Package.

It depends on dealer allocation. In my case, I ordered my car 01/21 and had a VIN by 01/30 with a build date of 02/13. I think I got lucky. Others have reported longer times.

I'm at almost 3 weeks. The dealer told me he is waiting for it to "drop". I'm getting worried, my $500 private cash coupon expires on 3/31/2012. If I don't get a build date soon, I might be SOL.
