Some people have no probs gapped at .060. Some do though. I would go down to .050 and see if it helps.

I could do that but how does that explain others with non-modded foci running 103s? Keep in mind this misfire was the reason I replaced the plugs in the first place. The plugs were motorcraft plugs and I'm assuming oringinals. I don't want to go down a path where IRS always the plugs. 2 sets, original and ar103s, both misfiring at 50-65 mph. Any other suggestions?

If it's not the plugs (and it sounds like it isn't) then you have to wonder if it isn't a bad COP (plug coil) or injector maybe? I don't honestly know but it sounds like it's time to think in a different direction [scratch].

will move that direction then. CEL came on during a bad jolting episode about 2hrs ago, now off. will a reader still pick it up if its not on? I posted in the Duratech forum because I have a Duratech, didnt want SPI diagnosisussisis. And that I got the AR103 idea from a post on Duratech forum. If that was wrong, my bad.

Good. I was wondering why it didn't throw a code... and now it has. The problem will be stored and can be read even if the light goes off.

Just FYI: 103's are technically to cold for a NA engine, which can lead to fouling. Most run the 104 gapped tween .050 up to .060. Not all COPs can handle .060 though.
Also: moving from a potential problem (original plugs) to another potential problem (AR103) is not good troubleshooting technique. Not criticizing, just explaining. Getting a code with a plug not meant for your car can take you down the wrong road (so to speak). Install a set of A104, gapped to .050. If you get a code on those THEN you can trust the code. When you remove the current plugs, number them as you set them aside (sharpie works great). Then you can inspect the plugs later and relate the code to the plug if you find anything.

This is the sticky that led me to the decision to use 103's. It is made to seem there are greater benefits to using them than the 104's. If this ends up being the case I highly recommend the mods edit it to say "Not recommended for NA motors". I will give them a shot and post the results here.

Ya! That is a good thread (mostly). I posted to it as well. But here is the thing. You have to define a normal. Anything else is abnormal. 103 is not normal, overgapping is not normal etc. Now as you started with a problem that may be a bad COP (just sayin), lets review a comment by wickedgreyzx3 in the thread "The AR103 is identicle to the A103, but it has a groove cut in the electrode and the electrode is nickle plated. It is also way more electro magnetic interferance resitant than any plug out there, which is not benificial to us using coil on plug". So, the AR103 has a double negative. IMHO > Before you can run this plug, you have to have a solid ignition system (and even then there surrounded by caveats). wickedgreyzx3 makes that assumption (rightly) when he posted. Now! as this pertains to you. I run A104s with the strap trimmed 2mm (just like the AR103). AND, I can gap them to .060 and the car runs really well (wait for it), UNTIL > I get to particular high load conditions where I will experience a very intermittent misfire. In that config though I am really on the outer edge of what we know is permissible. I now gap to .055 (which is technically to wide, and I still trim the straps) and I don't have the issue. Just sayin, get your misfire issue sorted 1st, then retry with your AR103s if you want. [wiggle]

P.S. Totally off subject, but your aware of the COP plug issue? The clip that holds the plug in the COP is prone to breaking If it is cold outside. suggest you warm them up with a hair dryer before you mess with them. Several folks have broken them, so just FYI.
