Hi All,

i got the beige leather interior on my SEL and was wondering if anyone has any suggestion as to what leather protection wax/oil or spray i can use to protect it from fading, discoloration and color bleeds from jeans, etc..

I opted out of the dealers paint and interior protection package which was an extra $499+tax

thanks

When i buy a new vehicle i coat the leather with mink oil and the carpets with 'scotchgaurd' from day one. Mink oil is availabe at any good leather/boot shop or shoemaker. Been using it for 20 years and its excellent

Been wondering the same thing. I think the best approach is to collect as many opinions as possible and see what floats to the top. Another question would be how often? The bottom/left bolster on my drivers seat gets dirty first. I think clean it only when necessary. Mine seems to start showing dirt about every 2 months and it appears to be from denim dye. I wear jeans a lot.

Did a Googles and found this link interesting and should count for at least one opinion.

I use Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner on my Volvo and I think it's not bad. I searched online and it appears a lot of BMW owners like to use them as well.

I'm concerned that with these types of products I'll lose the matte finish I like so much when the car came from the factory. Is this baseless?
Avoid the cheap leather cleaner/treaters. Lexol, when applied as directed should not be shiny. It will when over-applied, which isnt harmful, just shiny...

Also, the mink oil can be shiny, but not for long, and its a good product.

Our dealer offered us the 3M "teflon" pritection package for the interior for 300. We opted out, as a little elbow grease to treat the leather, when I regualrly cleann the car, will do the same thing!
