I know many people here have mentioned that they would consider trading in their "regular" 2012 Focus for a Focus ST when it comes out, but is anyone else out there considering the Fiesta ST as an upgrade to their Focus when/if it comes to the U.S.? I am definitely going to give it a thought. The predicted 38mpg hwy and quick acceleration are what is attracting me. Additionally, I commute to work on a long stretch of highway where 75mph+ is the norm, and looking at the tachometer when cruising in top gear makes me wince (3,500rpm). That sixth gear in the Fiesta ST sure would be nice.

nah not really, kinda too small of a car. After driving the Focus, I think the Fiesta would feel like a matchbox... our cars are pretty quick and top speed is same as the Fiesta.

Too small for our family...now to convcince the wife that the Focus ST is necessary!

Yes, but given how long it's taken Ford to deliver the Focus ST (not here yet!) I won't hold my breath. We can hope!
Well, we are getting it at the same time (basically) as the rest of the world, minus any extra US regulation inspection crap...or do you mean overall, we have never gotten the "good" Foci?

C&D listed the top speed of the Fiesta ST as 137mph... ours is governed to 120mph. Until we see the final drive ratio and 6th gear ratio of the Fiesta we won't know if it turns lower rpms @ highway speed... my $.02

I found some specs that puts the Focus 5 speed at 0-60 in 7.5 sec. and top speed of around 132-135.... maybe thats just for the 5 speed

i've already thought about trading when i read the article on the fiesta ST a while back.. I've always liked small cars and, for me, the focus is on the bigger end of what i prefer.
I actually like the looks of the fiesta ST better than the focus ST but that just me.

i'd take it in a four door, as well.... i mean, afterall, the focus st and the golf gti both are/can be had in four door....
Yeah, but 3 doors are sexy...and lend themselves to sporty character...which is why i am surprised the racing spec 2013 focus is a 5 door!

I like the Focus better than the Fiesta in regular trim, but I have to check out the Fiesta ST again...

Nope that was for the US 2.0 5 speed. here is the link for part of the specs, I still need to see where I read about the top end. I know I have had it just past 120

Interesting how they did .6 seconds better 0 to 60 than other reviews, but .07 G less lateral grip than those other tests...

Whats funny is its the same 0 to 60 as my old Grand Am "GT" with "Ram Air" and a 3.4L V-6 LOL!! GO FOFO!

I would be all over a Fiesta ST like white on rice. And, having seen both Fiesta bodystyles in Europe, actually think it looks better with four doors - so I'll be perfectly happy if the five-door is all we get.

Stock fofo with 400 miles and DCT ran 15.9 since then with 2.5" cat back and K&N Intake (not just the filter) 15.6 with a 2.1 60ft Thats faster then a stock svt focus
Also our cars make around 150 wheel which puts our motors at 170hp from the factory WTG Ford for underrating their hp I like it!

BTW 7s is common 0-60 time for manual and auto.

I have tested my 2012 SE sport 5 speed (US spec) on the Autobahn, and can tell you that the limiter kicks in at 193kph (119.9mph). You can't even take 4th gear all the way to redline, almost, but not quite (4th should let you reach about 124mph).

I ran up against an 08 Scion TC and stayed with him all the way to about 120, and no sense of governor at all... Ill check it again in the spring.

it'll pull pretty hard up to 120.... but that's all. I'll have to get a fearless passenger to video it on the autobahn, we have some decent unrestricted areas around here.

Well, the engine is still only making 160hp but because there's not a belt-driven steering system and the the transmissions are a little fancier than they have been, Ford was able to get away with a smaller % of drivetrain power loss to the wheels.
