Well, I took some (unfortanely not too good) pictures of my unfinished (some details must be completed!) wiring cables instalation.

So, first of all I bought 5 meters of 8GA cable, some terminals and some isolation tape.

(oh god, the pictures are HUGE!!! I will try to resize them later )

Here´s the wire and the terminals:

here´s the tools I used:

So, I have cut the wires with the lenght I need, and assemble the terminals:

After I made all the wires, I started with the instalation
(once more the pictures aren´t the best, and the engine is a little dirty [:D] )

first one connects from the battery to the strut tower
Image

the second connects from the battery to the engine

Image

the third connects from the engine to the intake

Then, from the intake to the chassis, in the screw

and finally from the chassis to the engine again

There is still some work to do, bu the principal object, that is knowing if it work, its achieved.
The car idles better, and seems more smooth. No performance or mileage improved, thought.
Oh, and the system was installed nearly at the same time that I installed a 600W peak Amp.

Hope it helps some people that want to do the same thing with 20~25 bucks, instead giving 100-more from a wiring kit (they may be better however, but the main objective is acomplished with less money!! [;)] )

nice how-to! but the re-sizing of the pic's would be great! anyways great to see people contribute their work on here and help people like me out! thanks

I will be doing this set up in a few week when I can go to a freinds stereo shop to snag everything needed plus receave a hand from him also...worth giving it a try from what I have been reading. Trying to keep it very simple with my SVTF..this is a simple mod to do and a low cost mod..have other project on the way to put money away for.

our cars have pretty poor electrical grounding. by improving the grounds near key sensors/components, we can improve their performance. it deals with the voltage drop across the wires. lets say your stock setup runs 14.4 volts through the wires, and there's a 14 volt load on the circuit. ford specs require no more than .5 volts drop between power source and load, and .5 from load to ground. while within spec, this is not optimal. by creating a lower resistance ground wire, lets say that the voltage drop from load to ground becomes .1 volts. now instead of 13.4 volts that were available to the 14 volt load before, it now has 13.8 volts and can perform better.

this makes sensor readings more accurate, like airflow, fuel pressure, air temperature, etc. it also allows more buildup in the ignition coils for a stronger spark. the gains are small as far as horsepower goes, but the benefits like the smoother idle are well worth it.

another popular electrical mod is to run a 4 gauge wire from the alternator to the positive battery terminal.

Hmm this sounds good to me I think I'll give it a try. I've noticed in your engine bay you removed most of the cheezy plastic parts that are near the ignition coil, and have installed an intake. Have you added any other modifications to your SVTF?

NCC28983: I have only a K&N "home made" intake. Nothing more. Maybe I will go now for the UDP. [;)]

I have removed the cheezy plastic for the pictures.

I´m not seeing well the connections... can You indicate me please? I will do that upgrade also. [:)]

tks!

sorry but how can u live with yourself with that dirty of an engine bay? looks liek u dumped buckets of sand and mud in there :(

Shorten them ground wires...no point if they are that long...they shouldnt be anymore than 12" at most..

He's in Portugal - I understand there's a new craze over there - something about dirty engine bays and the removal of cheesy, seemingly useless engine covers. It's all the rage...you should see their car shows...

Good how-to, BTW. Seriously - it was very informative.

there's a red wire that goes from the alternator's output post to the positive battery terminal. it should take a 10mm socket wrench to remove the nut holding the ring terminal down. you can cut the wire off the battery terminal as that I believe it is integrated into the cable end. then just run a 4 gauge with ring terminals however you like through your engine bay, making sure it won't hit any moving parts, and connect the alternator output post to the positive battery terminal

can someone take a pic of the alternator output post? i did the grounding wires, but i never hooked anything up to the postive battery terminal! i don't even know where that outpost you are talk is... someone please post, because if this will help, i want to add this! thanks

2020vision: True. It´s dirty. I can live with that. The bonnet is made to be closed not opened [:)]

biketcher: Oh, so you see our car shows? Then you see more than me. I don´t care about neons and "Fast and Furious" sort of things.... lucky you! Oh! And if you´ve read well the posts you can see that I only took the cheesy, seemingly useless engine covers for the illustration of the install.
BTW, Thanks!

Crazymechanic: tks! [:)]

AmazonRacing: You are right, but it was an 15 minutes quick install, so I didn´t cut the wires with the correct size. Some of them are a bit long. To be resolved. [;)]

Lets start with first things first........ Clean your freaking engine, it will probably run better. then you can upgrade lol lol lol lol.....

Get a ******g life and then borrow a sense of humor, prick.
