Installed my Ford Racing short throw shifter and VF Engineering rear engine mount today. Took about 30 minutes for the mount and 90 minutes for the shifter (I'm real picky about cleaning the parts and greasing properly). And WOW!! Noticeable from the very turn of the key. The mount makes the engine feel more 'solidly attached' to the car (which it is)...a slight bit of vibration, but nothing too noticeable. And the 1-2 gear 'thunk' is gone, baby. Bye-Bye!!

I was expecting some noticable improvement with the shifter, but nothing like this. It's literally snick-snick from gear to gear now. And a completely different feel to the mechanism. No slop whatsoever. A little 'gooey' feeling, but I'm attributing that to the fact that it was 25 degrees when I went for the test ride. That will loosen up when the grease and gearbox heat up.

And as noted several times (but the question keeps coming up), the Ford Racing and Steeda shifters are EXACLTY the same unit, right down to the part number. I ordered the FR unit, it came in an FR packaged box, and the instructions were 'Steeda'. So go where you get the best price, the best service and the cheapest shipping.

So, 89 bucks for the shifter, 89 for the motor mount, and a much, much better feel to the car. Can't beat it for the price, boys and girls.

Got the shifter from Central Florida Motorsports (C-F-M). Ordered online for $89, free shipping, no sales tax. Had it in 5 days. Engine mount came from Focus Sport. Same deal...free shipping.

for the rear engine mount, what tools and other misc things do you need to install it? Is it relatively easy to install with only a few tools?

Mine was 81.00 plus tax. I need to check into the vf engine mount, can I get them from the ford ?

Tools to install the mount are: two jackstands, one floor lift (jack), 13mm socket, socket wrench, loctite, a 13mm box end wrench and a torque wrench. You want to jack the car up and place it on the stands, then LIGHTLY support the tranny with the jack. Its an easy 30 minute job, including getting the car up in the air. Installation is simple...I am fairly accomplished with a wrench and this one was plain and simple. But, one deviation from the supplied instructions....loosen, but don't remove, the 'upper' bolt from the gold mount plate...this pivots the plate out of the way and you can simply pull the old engine mount forward and down to remove (as mentioned in the above thread).

I don't think Ford sells the VF Mount. Most of VF Engineering's products are for VWs, but they do some Ford products. You can do a search for them and it will pull up several suppliers.

Hey actually I found something interesting about my car. I bought it used a few months back and I haven't had a chance to really inspect the undercarriage of the car. So today I went to pick up my winter tire package and to have the tires installed. The mechanics were cool with me to walk in there to have a look at what was going on. Well it turns out while I was checking out the underbody I happened to notice that my rear engine mount was replaced with the VF engineering one! I had no idea either I just assumed that all SVTF's felt the way mine did. Anyways it turned out to be a good day, got my snow tires and I found out that I don't have to buy/install that mount. :-D

Yea I was reading everyones posts about that before I knew about this and I was saying to myself "Wow I never had any of those problems" I thought maybe it's because I baby the car and drive it like an old lady between 1st and 2nd LOL but now I know why I didn't have that problem.

Is the rear engine mount really the only one you need? or does it make a big difference to get all 3 of the motor mounts?

just get the rear, it helps against the "thunk" when you shift hard into second gear.........the other two are toooo hard to install, and don't really do much for your car, so i say just stick with getting the rear one
