I've pretty much come to the conclusion that it would probably pay off in the long run to do a Zetec swap in my 02 Focus SE. It dropped an exhaust valve seat on cylinder #2 and mashed the piston up as well as the cylinder head. No scars or scratches on cylinder wall (VERY shocking!!!) but I'm afraid the damaged piston wouldn't last long, or it may have done something to the rod. I'm figuring it would cost me just as much to put in a new piston and a re-manufactured cylinder head as it would to go to the local you pullit and get a Zetec from one of the tons of wrecked Focuses there.
I have seen that some of the Focus enthusiasts on here who have done the swap say its easy, while the other ones say its hard and to just to fix the SPI and sell it to get a Zetec Focus. I originally bought this Focus with the engine problem to fix and resell. Never thought it would be this major of a problem. I was gonna fix the SPI and resell it to get a Zetec Focus. Now, it seems as if swapping it would make more sense.
Any opinions or advice from the people who have done the swap is greatly appreciated. If there is a "how to" section on the swap, and a list of all the things I will need, please send me the links. Thank you in advance!!! [cheers]
