I'm glad I'm not the only one that's bothered by that. On top of that the dealerships in my area are pricing the base SE around the $22k range. HAahahaha.... sigh.

Meanwhile next door in Ford Kennedy Mazda, they've got 2.5L Mazda3's with alloys and rear disc brakes for much cheaper. I mean sure you have to put up with the goofy front-end design, but in my opinion it's still the better overall value of the two. I'm NOT saying the Focus is inferior. I'm talking strictly price versus standard features.

Anyway give it a year or two. Let the inventory build up so those markup prices will fade, and also wait for Ford to iron out some of the kinks from the first version of the car. If you practice a little patience you'll get a much better deal out of it. The Fiesta is going through the same exact cycle.

May be...but this one has a fancy and sparkly opening...

So I'm going to watch it again, with some [popcorn]

Really!?! On the Ford website (US site), base SE should be $17,270 ($18,065 for hatch). Sounds like they are really trying to screw those that want to get their hands on one first!

They are putting the automatic transmission in the SE, and that is where the prices come from:

SE Sedan: Base price: $17,270
Automatic Transmission: $1095
Delivery charge: $750

Total for a basic 4-door SE with automatic: $19115
Add $400 or so for many paint colors, and that is why the SE shows up as more expensive. I have been saying for a while that if you get a SE with automatic, the SEL becomes a much more attractive choice at $20,270(not counting the $750 delivery fee), so $19,115 to $21000 or so. If you add the convenience package($430) or MyFord & Sync package($875) to the SE, that already pushes the SE so close to that $21000 mark that it makes very little sense to get a SE.

Who is this guy? Ford was posting pics of him on their Focus facebook page.
Not to be too hasrsh but the Facebook images include written words explaining who this guy is.

But to save you valuable time "Alexey -- who joined us last month on the Global Test Drive and is now traveling in the US, on his way to donate $10,000 to a charity in New York"

If you are not aware of what the Global Test Drive was try google [8D] warning though you will need to read some print to find out what is was about [giddy]

Ah never mind I found an explanatory video for those that do not like reading print

Notice those LED's on the headlights at the beginning of the video!?!

Man I wish they would have left those on for North American production (and projector lights too).

Maybe we will be able to buy European headlamps on ebay???????

Also saw this color option on the UK website. It's called Midnight Sky

I was also thinking the same thing about the LED tail lights. It will mainly be dependent on if the sheetmetal work is the same between the NA and Euro spec cars.

I'm not getting into the legal aspects...

Oh, and I love that color!

This is a cool shot[thumb]

I'm not a fan of the new Focus but I actually can't wait to see people on here getting them & start posting pics of them up in the Showroom.

Check out all the sensors on the bumper too. There's a ton more driving technology on the Focus across the pond.

Beautiful color. I'm sure we can fit the lights just fine, the sheetmetal and all the painted surfaces are identical across the world according to Mark Kaufman, the small cars global marketing manager. I just hope they're offered in a darker housing at some point like our Ti model because I hate shiny chrome. Also, I know on the Fiesta, a small amount of fitment has to happen behind the lights to fit the Euro HID setup (dark housing) but people have already done it.
