Had to replace my Brake Booster Vacuum Hose, Bought a new hose and adaptor, but i'm completely stuck on getting it changes out. The adaptor has a plug in it that i'm assuming needs to be removed. Just all around confused on this, any help would be much appricated. i'll attach a pic of the parts i'm talking about.

Got the same problem on my SOHC.The salvage yard must have pulled the guts out of mine on the new motor I am putting in and dont know how to get them out of the intake so I can put my good one out of my old motor in the new motor.

woosle12 try applying pressure to the plug with one of your fingers while using a screw driver to apply slight pressure to edge of red connector to work loose. I'm not positive on this but I thought I would suggest an idea. Be careful so you don't break...

Thanks for getting back to me. The quick disconnect is still available thru Ford. I assume it just pulls out of the intake manifold with a little effort. Unfortunately, my hose is hard and deformed from 10 years of use. I asked 2 Ford dealers the question ... "If I brought this car in for service and you confirmed it needs a new hose, what would you do?" Still have not received an answer. I would like to replace the quick disconnect with a male adapter where I can clamp a hose in place but I need to locate a suitable adapter. In the meantime, I will keep trying to locate something. If I find a solution, I will post it for all to benefit. If someone beats me to it, fantastic. Thanks for the posts.

I know this is an ol post but I'm trying to take my SVT Intake Manifold out and having issues with disconnecting the Brake Booster Vacuum Line, I already broke the FRS Line just broke it close to the elbow so i put it back in easly enough. I'm affair to pull to hard on the BB and break something since this is ten year old plastic, it seems to catch is there a certin way to remove it ?

You push IN on fitting ring while pulling OUT on hose. Simply pulling hose only sinks the biting teeth in deeper to make part unremovable. It's a quick release fitting. Soft plastic there, you will not find any other sort of fastener to replace that, Ford knew what they were doing there..................to reinstall simply push hose back in to bottom.

Had a problem with the hose getting hard and losing vacuum. Also tried to replace the adapter but I too could not get the adapter out of the manifold. Purchase the adapter and only used the dummy shipping plug. I drilled a hole in the plug and put it in the old adapter. Then a clamped the original hose to the dummy plug. Worked perfectly.

Hey if it works...................I've got one simply jammed in place, it broke long ago. Been running fine like that for years. Ford did not provide for any way to put different fitting, the plastic cannot be tapped, doing so ruins intake. One day with intake off I will fish a separate type air fitting for tire like on motorcycle tube into the manifold and trap it in hole and tighten a nut on the outside to create a nipple. I brought a plastic reservoir for cooling system back from the dead like that once when the nipple broke off, still runs 10 years later. Doesn't leak a drop. $2 fix instead of what was a $65 tank back then.

I used quick disconnects like that on printing equipment, gluers with like 50 lines on them. Once engine vibration moves the tube around in the grabbing teeth enough they will cut in well enough that simply pushing the ring down will not release the hose cleanly anymore.

I'm on point Tip, all the time Phife, but searching the threads is giving me strife, so I'll play the resurrector and give the dead some life...

So I know the hose is a discontinued part, but what about the adapter plug? The piece in the pic on first post that has the little red grommet piece? I'm guessing that's also called the quick disconnect? What's the part number for that, is it the same off the SPI manifold (YS4Z-9A475-AA)? My engine came without that piece, and I'm trying to fix it without filling it with JB weld, silicone, rtv, ect... Thanks in advance for the help I hope.

Ok so giving the Dead some life yet again. Just got the part (YS4Z-9A475-AA) for my SVT, and I cannot get the old one out. Is there any trick to getting it out? Studying the new one there are little metal teeth designed to sink into the plastic when it's tugged on so it doesn't come out of the manifold. There's got to be a trick to getting it out. I really don't want to Macgyver this either, I'm boosted and this huge hose is enough to make the motor die out when it's not in and sealed, so want to do this right. My original adapter is missing the red quick disconnect part can I just swap that out? Or will I have to take out the entire connector?

The red piece uninstalls with the vac tube, from what I remember. To remove, pull the vac tube out slightly, then pull the red adapter out with the vac tube (as 1 unit). If the red adapter is in the manifold without the vac tube, I would think it would just pop out without forcing it. Or try plugging the vac tube in and removing together. I havent messed around with mine much, I installed it with no problems and let it be.
