I have a 2001 1.6 Focus Zetec with a couple of problems that I think may be related.

When it's cold or damp I can hear the doors clicking trying to lock themselves. I have read before to try putting dielectric grease on the terminals of the terminal multiblocks inside the doors, which I tried but didn't work.

The second and more important is sometimes the car won't start. When turning the key the dash lights come on and I can hear a click but no turn over. By repeatedly trying the key in the ignition the car will eventually start as if nothing was wrong, ie no slow turn over like the battery was dead (which I have checked with a multimeter and it is fine). Sometimes it will only take a couple of tries and the next time it could take up to 15 minutes of trying.

Can anyone offer any answers or suggestions please?

I know the no start issue should be fixed by rebuilding or replacing the starter...... as for the doors I'm not sure as mine do that too

Thanks for the replys - the car starting problem turned out to be a faulty battery even though the voltages checked out! The doors still try to lock themselves (worse now it is cold and damp), but I've read that disconnecting the Seimens remote key receiver under the dash for an hour can solve it. I'll try it this weekend and update.
Thanks again

It is your battery connections. Clean everything and when you tighten the clamp down then try to move the clamp sideways. Pay attention to any crimped wires wires on the battery clamp.
If I am wrong this will cost you zero

Thanks mikeeshaq for the reply. I had removed and replaced all the connections from the battery to the starter and still had the problem. I bought a new battery and when I went to try the car before changing it it wouldn't start-as soon as it was swapped out away it went and has been ok for the last week.
