Need some direction [scratch]

P1237 code keeps throwing, even right away after I reset... Even disconnected the battery for a few min..

when I first start the car it goes to 1000 RPM then drops to 850 RPM then back to 1000 RPM with in seconds. other then that the car runs mint[thumb]

what i did notice is that the FPDM gets wicked hot after driving it a short time (10 Min)

im thinking righ- off-the-bat its the FPDM but wondering if anyone else has had this issue and could shine some light on it

Reset/unplugged the Inertia Fuel Switch... Now when I start the car it has a really low rough idle (300-500 RPM)

Cycled the pump a few times, started the car about 6 times and does it every time...

basically so far I made it worse just by resetting the IFS, witch is now leading me to believe it really is the stupid box... just looking for someone to agree with me or have had this problem...

Posted via FF MobileI looked up that code, and most of the wiring/seized pump issues mentioned would result in no running at all unless intermittent/partial. Unless you just want to throw parts at it & pray, you need a wiring diagram & VOM to test wiring & pump - checking ground near that box would be first...

Had a chance to look it up (not at work now!) and I reckon the fuel pump is failing. This is putting a load on the Fuel Pump Delivery Module, causing the overheating. Given the age of the car - 2001, it's probable it has one of the dodgy pumps Ford were changing under warranty, that has finally popped it's clogs (died).

When the car was running it was at 80psi for fuel (witch is high)....

Well I went under the car today and kicked my gas tank a few times and while the car was running. I unplugged the FPDM and sprayed electrical cleaner in it and let it run for a while. Then I plugged it back in and my pump shut off like it should and the psi dropped to 40-60psi like it should.... Light is off and has not come back on yet[headbang]

But... My car stalls when I start it... I need to give it a little gas for it to stay running for a few seconds then it seems fine

tomorrow I'm gonna throw a Wix fuel filter at it and hope it makes things a little better... If not then sock and pump it is. [bigcry]

**So if anyone has a P1237 code try unplugging the FPDM while the car is running, wait a few seconds and plug it back in (electrical cleaner wouldn't hurt)**

Posted via FF MobileSince the code is primarily for open or shorted circuits, cleaning connections for better contact is certainly a possible fix......

Well changed the fuel filter today... Yeah! it really needed to be changed..
What a difference in the idle! cut the old filter open and it was pretty brown... the old gas that came out of it was very very dirty.

Posted via FF Mobile So, are you converted to the "check the basics first" school?? (grin) Actually it sounds like cleaning the wire contacts helped the pump work better, and cleared the code, but it still couldn`t overcome the bad filter - replacing that solved the poor running problem....
