I recently bought a SVT longtube header for my car and was wondering how much header wrap I should buy.

I just wrapped mine wit a 50 foot role. Got it done but was slightly 6 inches short and I had to really wrap the bottom to make up the difference. Soak in water for a while so u can stretch it, and take ur time.

Oh almost forgot. When ur all done with everything push the car outside with the Hood open and windows closed. And then start the car and run.Haha. if u forget this ur garage will look like a smoke bomb just went off. And it smells terrible.

they are all pretty much the same, though all claim to be special in one way or another, with the exception of that volcanic stuff. and certain types are only meant for go-carts and such. just besure you get the 1/8th thick stuff, not that 1/16th thick stuff. i just did my svt header, and used a total of 65 feet ( a 50 roll and a 15 roll). i bougt the dei 2 in wrap and did a 1 in overlap, just cause i felt like it.

I started with hitting all 3 pieces (header, cat, flex) with 2000 degree rustoleum
then wrapped the header
then hit it with the silicone sealant (also from dei)
and i put the steel ties every 4-6 in or so, just in case it rubs ill only lose i full wrap or so.

oh and be prepared to buy hardware, especially the nuts. they are 10 by 1.50 i think. After 9 years of weather, water, and michigan salt, we ended up breaking off almost every bolt. and i got a place to weld in a 2 1/4 pipe from the flex to the muffler. its a whole new car.

i did an svt header w/ a 60 foot roll and about 1 ft. to spare.

Sweet! thanks for the tips. I'm going to get an hfc. I'd do an orp but I dont want my car to be too loud.

sweet that confirms how much I'll need to order.

yeah like i said i used 65 foot of it, but i also overlapped it alot more than needed. i have heard of peeps on here using a 50 foot roll and having over 3 foot left over. but definatly put those ties every few inches especially twards the bottom end of it...

Brett when you go to wrap it be sure you get the 50x2 from DEI and get the silicone spray as well to coat it. It will help the wrap last a little longer than just wrapping it alone. DEI sells 8" ties and 4" ties, the 8" ties come in a pack of 4 and the 4" come in a pack of 8 so be sure you order the right amount.
