I am going to install some lighting to show off my subs when my trunk is open. My question is can i use the wiring on the trunk light to power a few, probably 3 neon or cold cathode lights? Or should i use that wiring and a relay to be safe?

yea, there is a how to somewhere around here on how to do exactly that

hooked it all up in the past hour or so, used LEDs like above, i will take pics of my blue trunk as soon as it gets dark lol. it seems ok so far i left the trunk open for a good ten minutes to see if the fuse would blow and it didnt so i am thinking i will not need a relay, and if i do, i atleast have the amp power wire right there so i can use for the 30 lead.

Btw, KeepItKauai, your trunk looks great with the lighting, thanks for the advice

Just wire a couple neon tubes to come on when your amp is on. One wire combined with power wire from the battery, the other wire in with remote wire. Done in less then 5 mins

i wouldnt do this seeing as how the light in the trunk will always be on even if the trunk is closed. Just wire it up to the trunk light inside the trunk so when u pop the trunk, BAM the lights on.

Not only that, you would be running 2 power wires to the tube with no ground. Remote is a switched power.

But why neon? Those things get hot and they're bulky. My LED strip puts out more than a neon tube and they're super slim.
