i've been looking into getting a new exhaust system but i cant decide between a magnaflow or a borla. i know that magnaflow is a bit cheaper and it does sound pretty good but i'd like to get some more opinions on which one is potentially better... prices, pics, vids, and websites would be appreciated.

thanks

Neither of them are going to give you any more performance unfortunately. I really like them both. Magnaflow is louder though. I still can't decide which one I want to get.

I tried several aftermarket set-ups. I never got any noticeable performance gains. Also ,nothing sounded as good as the stock system . So I am glad I saved it, because its back on the car and I am loving the sound of it again.....just my experience, others will disagree.

I have a trubenz setup with borla mufflers. The sound was awesome. I say was because now I have no cat and it is WAY to loud.

Great vid of the sound. (Car is actually moving)
The only restrictions are the Borla muffler. :( (If you know anyone that wants to trade a HFC for an offroad pipe let me know)

I had the same question almost 2 years ago before I went with magnaflow. I will post a vid on how my sounds later on tonight

id say check out mbrp's web site. theres is a high quality kit at a very decent price. and if im not mistaken its a 2.5" exhaust. if you go with an ebay kit be prepared for thin stainless steel that is prone to crack and hard as hell to weld back. if you do go the ebay route try to get a company like obx-r or meagan racing. oh and i had a borla before but was 2 1/4. sounds really good with a ORP. loud thou

the cracking of a ebay system will depend on where you live. If you live where there is heavy road salt, then you might have the problem.

Living in CA, I have never had a problem with a low price ebay system. and like i said from the beginning, you"ll get the same gains as a (XXX) brand over priced system.

i got one from truebendz.com recently cost me $360 shipped to my door for a 2.5" stainless steel system and you have the option of which brand muffler you use and it looks great so far cant wait to install it on my svt i already know its gonna be loud cause im am running a orp and no resonator on the car

I would say spend the extra bit for a borla, the trubendz borla kit sounds like a good deal. I had a Borla cat back on my old ZX3 and loved the deep sound.

Heres a link to the Borla on my SVT, however its not a cat-back. Its all stock exhaust except the 2nd muffler (in front of the lunchbox) was replaced by a Borla Pro XS muffler. The original owner took that one out instead of the lunchbox for some reason. It sounded decent but it got annoying at freeway speeds and so i threw in the Borla. I really wanna put in a HFC to get it a little more louder, just dont want it as loud as it was before. Sound quality isnt the greatest on the vid, better in person.

Looking back at it, I wish I spent the money on Tom's Tune instead of getting the Magnaflow. My suggestion to you, is get a tune first from Tom. If you decide to get an exhaust at a later time, Tom will send you a tune to match your setup.
