so the little tone/beeping reminder that tells me that I left my lights on when I turn my car off doesnt remind me anymore. it's been like this for awhile now, and I always forget to turn off my lights and I've had to jump my car a couple of times. I think its the same reminder that lets you know you left your keys in the ignition because it doesnt do that anymore either. thought it might have been a fuse but I checked all of them and they're all fine. anyone got any ideas?

Might be the door switch

that makes sense? would fit the bill for the issues. is it the actual button on the side of the door? or is there like a relay on the inside somewhere that could be faulting? how can I check that?

I think if it was a door switch, your interior light would be off all the time (if it was set to the "door open - light on" switch position) for a particular door, even with the door open. Easy to test on each door. Is that the case? Your door ajar light would also never come on for the offending door. If the interior light works OK, I think it may be the chime itself (GEM module, I think.)

The door switch is located behind the post the door locking mechanism latches to, in the door sill. It looks like a black rubber bump stop but it contains the plunger switch.

well I'm pretty sure its the door switch. I just went outside, started the car and opened the drivers door. nothing. I opened the passenger door, and the lights came on. the buttom still pushes in/out, but nothing happens. can I replace just the switch? any idea how much they are? anyone have any idea how to replace them?

Yes. The car however doesn't need to be on (running). Opening the door on a parked car should trigger the interior light providing that three position switch on the dome light is set correctly. The three position, iIRC, are: always on - on with door - always off. Make sure it's at "on with door".

yea, it def seems like the switch is out. any idea where to get the new one? how easy are they to replace?

Should be fairly straight forward to replace, I would think. I suspect new parts are available only from the dealer but maybe pull the switch and check the wiring isn't chafed or hasn't come loose first. Sorry, can't offer any practical experience as I've never needed to replace one.

Mike Hilbish [b16sir1991] Or Steve [fordsvtparts] can help you with parts both give a decent discount
