Is the borla SVT Exhaust a direct bolt on or requires an adapater/modification to work on a non-SVT zx3? I was planning on buying it from Mcnews...also what is better to get? A flex pipe or a cat, planning to get a race header in future if that affects decision.

thats what we are talkinga bout. the SVT borla flange doens't match the zx3 flexpipe. you have to drill the holes out on the SVT borla to make it fit..

How loud is the SVT Borla compared to stock? I really dont want my car to be a whole lot louder than stock...

No no no, let me rephrase. Compared to other exhaust systems (lets use magnaflow) how loud is the SVT Borla? The only reason I am concerned about sound is because of all the Honda Civics I see at my school, and they are as loud as ***** and I cannot stand that.

yea the focus isn't going to make that hi pitched rice sound unless you put a fart can on it. It will have a good deep rumble with the SVT Borla. When i first started mine after the install i was disappointed because it was very quiet compared to what i thought. After driving it and breaking it in it got louder and as the exhaust gets hotter it gets louder... not annoying loud but nice loud
its not real loud at all. its fairly quiet. its noticeable in the 2500-3000 rpm range but then it almost goes away around 3200 rpm's. it comes back around 5000 rpm's but from inside it sounded as loud as my cai. also the first 50 miles its not that loud and it smells sweet but once its broken in its nice

That is all good to hear. Yeah, cars at our school define the term "rice", so sorry that I am overly worried about how my car sounds. I love to hear the engine roar, but I just dont want it to sound at all rice.

yea i know what you mean. My car is heard through the whole RPM range now. Like hky said, its only loud around 2500-3000. Mine used to be like that. but now it roars all the way up to 6k. Great sounding exhaust. My intake added a lot of noise to the car, its louder than the exhaust system.
