So, For my birthday, my parents got me speakers. And they of course had them installed from best buy, everything is great, until recently.

They installed the speakers on my birthday (10-21), and this started happening yesterday.

So, heres what's happening...When I press the button for my window to go down (on the drivers side), it gets 3/4's of the way down and then clanks really loudly. And, now, when I get above 30 miles an hour, my car on the drivers side only startes making a vibrate noise (almost sounds like wind getting in), or something.

So my question, do you think it's from best buy taking off the door panel? If not what could that noise be coming from the drivers side, to further describe it, it almost sounds like the constant rumbling of a candy wrapper.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

it could be from them removing the door panel, but ive had all of mine off at one time or another and i am by no means a professional. pop em off urself and take a look. its only maybe 8-10 screws. you will need a torx bit tho. and to the air sound getting into the car, my 07 has never by any standard been "quiet" lol.

or just run it back to bestbuy and start complaining. eventually someone will help you. the economy is too bad to make customers angry lol

Your 07 hasn't been quiet either? I'm use to some of my car's noises, like there's one random one that's been on the passenger side since the day I got it.

But, this one is weird, the window is clanking, think it's about to go off the track, but that one noise is very weird, it sounds like a wind noise, but doesn't, if that makes any sense at all. it's only on the drivers side, and only happens after 30MPH. I'm gonna call best buy and complain, someone will help hopefully. If not, I'm still covered under bumper to bumper warranty, maybe will have the dealer check it out.

I hope it's nothing with my engine, I've opened the hood, everything sounds fine still, just had my 45k check up 1 thousand miles ago, nothing wrong found.

But maybe it's just wear and tear :(

You have an '07 Correct? On the 07's there is a foam panel between the door panel and the door. I doubt something has fallen in your door unless they broke thru that foam panel which is quite easy but not always necessary. I used to be a Car Audio Supervisor for an install and sales department with that company, what you need to do is go back to the store and have them check it out. It could be said thing where a wire or crossover is in the way. That is completely fixable and is part of their labor checkout is to test the windows going up and down. Obviously that was not done. Or for whatever reason they messed with the window regulator. Both of which will be covered under your labor that you paid and Best Buy's insurance. Take it back to the store, talk to the install bay senior (look for and MECP First Class Patch), and get it fixed. More than likely they f'd it up.

As for installing a crossover in your door, number one you have to roll the window down all the way to get the panel off easily and there is not much room to let the crossover sit in the door. Infinity's, Rockford's, and Alpine's is too big to fit in said place unless they had the windows up when installing them which is totally possible.

Personally after being an installer, supervisor, and manager in that company, I'd only recommend having work done by an MECP Certified Installer. 80% of the installers in that company are at least at the Basic MECP level with 60% being at First Class MECP. But the sad thing is there is that 20% that haven't obtained said certification and may be a complete idiot when it comes to installing stuff. When requesting an appointment there just ask for an MECP Certified Installer, they should know what they are doing.

Alright, I'll have them check it out.

Just, Why would my car make that wind noise out of the driver's side all of a sudden? It's the weirdest noise too, a vibrationish wind noise (the only way really to discribe it), very light and subtle but loud enough to notice enough to bug me.

I"m hoping they just F'd up and can fix it soon. Man, the amount they charge and this is what I get. fun.

Take apart the door yourself. I dont think it's illegal to do that. If you can find some simple instructions how to take your door pannel off, I'd do that and look. I'm no expert, and I took all 4 pannels off my ZX3 with almost no problems, it should be fairly easy, then you can inspect and hopefully fix whatever it is.

LOL at "illegal"

"Sir, what are you doing? are you taking that door panel off?! It's STRAIGHT to jail for you, mister!" [rofl]

maybe the back of the speakers they put in are just really long and it rattles against the window or something back there, and that's what you're hearing. And the clanking at 3/4 of the way down, the window hitting the speaker. Just speculation, I can't REALLY do anything over the internet.

I really dont know if this has been said, but the speaker magnets are probably too big abd the glass is catching them.

thi is why i dont have best buy install anything anymore. i had them install my stereo and they somehow scratched the grey bezel thats around it. go back to best buy just to have them look at it and see if they can spot anything they did wrong, then after that never have them install anything for you ever again. go to a professional shop where thats all they do.

btw what did best buy charge for the installation? i recently had all 4 of my speakers replaced with alpine type-s speakers, the front two being components. i went to a local shop and they charged $330 for everything. on the receipt it said $40 for the initial install. everything else was parts. i think best buy charged me $60 for the install of my head unit

orrrr you could learn to do these very simple things yourself and save a bunch of money, and even charge friends less than best buy to do the same thing.

See, it was a birthday gift, from my parents, so I didn't have to install speakers on my birthday, hence the reason for best buy, not my choice, my parents paid for it and all that fun loving stuff.

And I did a little experiment, I brought a good old roll of duct tape along with me, and when the car started making the noise I pulled over, I opened the door, and where the metal meets the door panel, all the way down I taped it. Voila noise gone, so it's something there, maybe wind getting in? I'm calling best buy today and scheduling an appt, and hoping they don't screw something else up in the interum, what do you guys think?

more than likely what it is ( run into this a few times on fords) is the speaker harness that we use was not secured out of the way and is falling under the window when it's closed and the window hits it when you open it. just take it back and let them know whats goin on and they'll take care of it. simple fix
