What's the stock mustang tire?

I know the 215/60/15 are about an inch or so taller (rough estimate by eye, never measured yet)

Looks like it'll fit fine in the rear but in the front it looks like a no no
I guess "stock" to me (on my tires) is 225/60/15, I guessing it going to be way to big. I think we're figuring this out. I guess if you want a 215 width, you'll have to be at 55 or 50 profile. But, with your chart it seems to me that a 195 width will allow for a 60 profile.

I will confirm in a few days. I am going to try to actually bolt on the 215s with the mustang wheels.

So far right now its my speculation. I've only put the wheel next to the focus and just looked at it. Nothing will be known with this size until I stick it on.

I'll pop them on to look and attempt to try when Oh9Focus comes over and helps me with painting the calipers on I think Wednesday

Nice! Please keep me filled in. I'm picking up my '89 GT Stang wheels this weekend from craigslist and also try to gather some information for us. But, the guy said that the tires are 225/60/15 on all 4 wheels, so I think I'm at a bust for fitment and prob. going with a tire switch from my current(195/60/15) OEM focus alloys.

Chances are those won't fit since chances don't look too good for me. But hey, you now have a set of tires to sell if it doesn't work.. lol

The caps I'm not too sure of but I'll paint them too to see what they seem like. [scratch]

offset is often stamped on the wheel somewhere

but if u need to measure...
offset is the distance of the hub mounting face from the centre line of the wheel.
7" width, half is 3.5" or ~87mm.
so on the backside of hte hweel measure from the hub mounting face to the back edge of the rim (use something flat to sit accross the back of the wheel to measure off of)
subrtract 87mm from that and thats your offset.

or quick n dirty, put hte wheel on ground face up. measure the distance of ground to the hub mounting face and subtract 87 . beware that hte tire wall bulge will not give you a perfect measurement, u might want to approximate it and subtract that too.

Ok Just went out and tried my best to measure. I used a big piece of card board so I can extend from the hub to the rims lower surface but it does not sit flush since wheels are perfectly straight.

I got 5 1/8inches from hub the edge of rim. It's probably off so lets just say its about 4 7/8 to 5 1/8 inches
With that converted to millimeters on google and subtract 87 I get an average of about 40mm offset. Not too bad.

FocusVet, I'm going with flat black to achieve the steelie look. They're like premium steelies hahaha [:)]

My 15x7s have a 42mm offset, and could make 225/50/15s and 235/50/15s rub occasionally in the back, but I'm lowered 1.5". I could see these wheels being a good cheap race wheel if you ran a shorter tire like a 205/50/15. That's a popular size, but you wouldn't want to daily drive it. I'd guess 195/60/15 on stock suspension will work.

We need pics of them on the car! Kudos for having the balls to try them despite people's general opinion of it being impossible. Rep for that. I would seriously get hub-centric rings, though.

I just did mine also, LOL. This is what I came up with. At top of the rim to the hub, I had 120mm - 87mm = 33mm off-set (can some one double check me)

33, that's a big difference from the 40 I got..

and I looked at that site; what the heck is a HUB/CENTER BORE ?
But the Focus and the Mustang 5.0GT have the same HUB/CENTER BORE

Well I'll be bolting up the wheels Wednesday morning/afternoon
Peektures will surely follow [:)]

The center "hole" in the wheel where the hub sticks thru. We're OK because they do match up exactly. But, some wheels have a larger bore, so then you have to add a hubcentic ring for a "snugger fit" to eliminate any addition vibrations.

33mm sounds alot more realistic than 40mm. but both could be right.
is your wheel 7" wide? cuz the 87mm number only works for a 7" wide wheel.

i think when it comes down to it, we really need to see the wheel on the car

Yep this wheel is 7 inches wide.
How wide is the stock rim?

The wheel is going on tomorrow so wait one more day [neener]

So it's confirmed.. These tire's wont work but the rim will! I forgot to take a pic with the center cap though :(

Couldn't get a full side shot though, as you can see, there was no space.

Cannot turn without rubbing up front. They seem like they will sit well in the back though. Gonna have the tire shop pop the tires off the rim and I'll figure out what to do from there. Probably will just get 195/60/15 again to pop on.

Nice, how does the hub fit? Also you'll get a more "flush look" when you switch to a 195 width. looks good [thumb] By the way, your rotational direction is going the wrong way LOL J/K.

I'm going to get some cheapo tires to throw on there maybe. Well not cheapo but around $50-60 with some sort of good reputation.. I probably should not have gave away the hankooks.. they could have went on.. oh well [B)]
The hub fits perfectly fine. Just like the stock wheel.
Just that big tire got in the way.

I'll rotate the wheel the wrong way if I want [:p] It was just for demonstration lol
