im looking to buy some coilovers soon
and im wondering what brand should i get?

Megan Racing
D2 racing
Ksport
Koni
Eibach
Bilstein

i want something good quality.
something that will my my car substancially lower and ride good.
Not bouncy or anything. i deffinately dont want bouncy.
stiff and firm is fine with me.

i've always heard good things about ksports and they are cheap for the quality

I've heard great things about the Koni coilovers, even drove a car with them on a year or so ago. Rode great!

You need to be a little more specific on the features you desire. For example cheaper coilovers may not have damping adjustments or limited damping adjustments. Some may only adjust rebound and other will adjust rebound and compression. As they get more expensive they may include separate height adjustment (very desirable) rather than doing it by spring compression. There's lots of potential features and naturally the price can go up with each one. Some others not on your list Tein, Spax, KW, GAZ, and H&R.

Two overlooked sources for suspension applications are Bat Inc. and Shox.com. Several of the FF vendors carry some coilover options as well.

how come you dont have H&R on your list. cant go wrong with them. and they can be had for under a grand, last time i looked. i didnt know megan is making focus coilovers. i had a s14 240sx that i bought megans for. i thought they were pretty good quality for the price, although i didnt get to use them for to long before i sold the car. kind of wish i still had that car.

Whatever u end up choosing nick LMK! I personally have leaned on KW, H&R or the new Ksports. But ill be makin a final choice when that time comes.

I have been in a car with K sports they seemed nice but there a little on the harsh side, the front springs are in the 500lb/in range and the rears are 300some thing. On a dally driver that seams a bit much. My personal opinion is they have to much front spring and not enough rear spring.

I have had the KW’s on my car, the fronts are 350lb/in and the rear are progressive it still can be a bit harsh. But there nicely balanced. Also a good friend of mine and someone I trust really likes the H&R’s he felt they where the nicest ones performance driving and on the street.

currently I have KV variant 3’s with 450 front springs and 575 rears on my track car it streetable but it will beat you up when the road get rough.

no h&r is too soft.

the rear is like 260lbs

ksport is 505 front
280 rear.

id maybe like the front to be that but have the rear at about 315-320
i want stiff and not much body roll.

and i dont want to bottom out everytime i hti a bump.
so rough right i dont care ttoo much about

If ride isn't an issue some Koni Sports and H&R Race springs (325F, 375R) may give you what you need.

how much money are you willing to spend?

I dont think bottoming out would have as much to do with your spring rates, im pretty sure that is the shock's job with dampening and rebound, and such. Also if you go as low as it sounds like you want to go your just going to ruin the handling characteristics of the car. H&R knows what there doing. there not new comers to the scene, so what they design is a good bet its going to work good. H&R also has race springs which have higher spring rates, but i dont know if they work with the coilover system.

if your trying to control body roll you may want to also consider thicker sway bars with poly bushings or something. if you havent already done that

how is being that low goign to ruin the handling?
im not going to have my tires tucked in the wells
im just going to get rid of the wheel gap.
and i want the handling to be better

Really stiff springs are more at home on the track. Overly stiff springs on the street result in what I like to call hop, skip, and jump as a result of irregular road surfaces. All too often the car never feels settled. Unfortunately there's no rule of thumb for street use except trial and error.

Actually, once you get so low that the control arms are past being parallel to the ground it starts to impact handling.
