still nothing carb approved i see

other problem is that the diameter is too small.

If you guys are referring to the tubing you see in the install directions that's a prototype piece, and if you think the diameter looks tiny, think of how big the stock MAF piece is, that's not too big either.

this engine likes its air, it like LOTS of air and is quite hungry. it needs the large diameter tubing before and after the maf housing.

It doesn't matter how big the tubing is before or after it.... the air will still be bottlenecked in the small MAF housing.

you might want to take a little look at my good friend bernoulli and his equation.
http://www.lerc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/airplane/bern.html
say we start with a 3.5" then it necks down to say 2.75" in the maf, then up to 3" before the throttle body. we get the normal velocity that air would be comign in at at the beginning, when it necks down for the maf housing the velocity increases, then when into the next section the the diameter slightly increases and the air slows down a little. yes the maf housing is a bottleneck, but we CAN'T change it without tuning for it or things get fubar'd.

First who cares if it is carb approved unless you live in CA.

Second if it is made by K&N you can be sure it kicks ass.

Third its clear Aero Student is damn smart (not just this post but many of his others are proof) but I think that K&N would also know what they are doing.

Just my opinions but I will always stick by K&N.

You guys are missing one thing. This is priced way out. K&N wants $320 bucks for it. One of their preferred retailers wants $220.

You are best sticking with the MM or FS.
