i am actually gonna go get the wrap tonight, right now...lol. i will post up after they are wrapped [:)]. gotta do my HFC-turned ORP as well...lol....

they have been through a lot of rain and i wrapped them DRY so they weren't as tight as i wanted it to be. I will be wrapping them wet this time. Unless i messed with them the wrap would have stayed on for a good long time.

Getting ready to wrap my header....ordered the DEI Titanium wrap. I will take some photos. I have a couple of questions for those who have already removed the header.
1. What is the best method of breaking the header bolts loose? Engine hot? Engine cold? Heat the bolts?
2. Is there a gasket between the header and head? Can it be reused?
3. What is the torque for the header bolts when I reinstall them?
4. What size stainless steel hose clamp should be used? What is the size of the header tubes?

Thanks,
Dan
Finally installed the Titanium wrap...Take a look.

The Titanium wrap was easy to work with. It did smoke a bit at startup but stopped smoking after 5 minutes or so. No soaking, no sealer or paint was needed per the good folks at DEI.

I wrapped the header in three stages. First I did the #1 tube and #4 tube with ONE piece of wrap. Next I wrapped #2 and #3 with ONE piece of wrap. Finally I wrapped the collectors with the remaining piece of wrap. I did not pre cut the wrap. Yes it was a pain working with 50 feet of wrap. LOL We will see how it wears and ages over the next few months.

I wrapped my header and ORP wet this time. Both look great. I will have to get some
Picts up. I have some in my rebuild thread for now.

Interesting that part of this thread is in reference to wrapping or otherwise shielding the oil pan from the Cat. This might be one of the major causes of the overheating issues I have during warmer weather. I noticed that my oil temp gauge (aftermarket) will spike before the car wants to crap out and die.

Is it a good idea to look into wrapping the cat and/ or shielding the oil pan when I do my SVT exhaust swap in the next month?

That's what I did. Grind most of it with the big grinder and use a cut off disk on the dremel to finish taking off the tab and then carefully smooth it out. Makes the finished wrap look much nicer.

I have to get off my ass and get this done this weekend..
It is a pain in the ass, but well worth it. I did mine today. I went short with the first tube but it all worked out in the end. 6 hours, had to buy tools and used a branch trimmer in lieu of a metal snipper[limp]

I would leave the tabs on unless you are looking for show quality. It is pretty solid metal.

colored wrap ?
n e one use or seen this stuff work

http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/colored_exhaust_wrap.php

im thnking of wraping mine soon black but ..blue might be sweet

.
.
dam all i can find is the 2''X 50' (blue)
for like $80
if i cant find it at a normal price looks like i will
be going with the black wrap

Gasket is no biggie, still use it. Wrap the cat too, I am doing so this weekend.

Color probably won't turn out like you want if you are shooting for something specific. Black or natural wrap will look fine. The color will dull on you after the heat cycle but who cares.

i think im going to do black on my header
..and i got $20 to auto zone so it will only cost me a lil over $30
to cover my header and i think i will do my cat later..

Check out my posts 313 and 320 and check out the DEI Titanium wrap. It is a little more expensive but you don't have to paint or seal it and you can wrap it dry.

By the way, thanks again for getting the HFC thing started at Jay's.
