So i see that on most of the forums, that exhaust systems are "pointless". I would like to get Ford Racing headers, CFM ORP, and Borla exhaust, would i get any gains. Any advice welcome. Preferably from some one who has done this.

You will get some noticeable gains from the ORP ... as for the Headers ... just leave those alone. And the exhaust ... if any you will gain like 1 HP. Really the SVT is pretty well equipped and if power is what you are going for ... get the ORP to start with. and save your money from the Exhaust and Header for somethine else.

^^^Agreed. Our headers were designed by Cosworth and flow just as well or better than any aftermarket header solution... Like stated before the ORP is pretty much the only thing that will really net you any gains as the stock cat is the bottleneck in the stock SVTF exhaust...

The biggest gain will be from the ORP. That's where the stock exhaust is bogged down the most. I wouldn't touch the header unless it's to get the FRPP ceramic coated header. It's the same header as stock but coated. It looks really good. As far as the cat-back, a lot of guys here get an aftermarket kit but it's mostly for the sound.

what up to another SVT tuner in SC. yeah go with the ORP. very good punch on top end but looses low end torque. if you wanted to you can always wrap your factory header then coat it with some high temp paint to give it a look better then the orange rust. with all materials youll be looking at like 75 dollars total from your local autoparts store. can search the threads on hear and see how people have done it.

From what I hear a 3in trubendz exhaust makes power. And there should be dynons somewhere on here that support this. And if you plan to go FI the 3 in exhaust will help. I plan on getting one in the near future. And like everyone says the stock header is good and I plan on wrapping it soon so I can get rid of the hideous heat shield.

I did this exact swap, minus the frpp header. I just wrapped the stock one, it was designed by cosworth...so yeah. Here's a link to a a place where my dyno vid is. Listen to the sounds emitting from it.......I love it.

The FRPP header is the same as our stock header.

  • Original equipment header, ceramic coated for heat resistance and durability
  • 4-2-1 design is engineered to correctly collect the exhaust pulses resulting in maximum torque and horsepower
  • T-409 stainless steel construction
  • Fits 2002-04 2.0L SVT Focus ZX3/ZX5
  • Part # M-9430-SVTFC

Will a header from a 2004 fit my 2002? I want to keep the exhaust stock, but I know my daughter will drive it in to another curb, so a used one is a good one. :)

False. It has even been measured that some 3" Trubendz kits use 2.5" ID mufflers with 3" piping.

To be perfectly accurate, the FocusSport 4-to-1 race header does give you more horsepower at the top of the powerband, but you lose torque down low. Personally I think the trade-off is not worth it, so the SVT header is the best all around.

i just installed my new borla exhaust and i absolutely love it. It feels like i can accelerate a little quicker and the sound is amazing
I don't want to sound like a dick, but you're probably lying to yourself about the acceleration (unless you had a blockage in your stock exhaust).

I know. i think i am. its not so much faster as i guess it is smoother. i dont know. it feels a little different tho.

lol............My blockage is sitting on a shelf in my garage. I replaced it with an ORP and yes.....it does acccel faster because of it. [loveff]
