wher can you findthe recommended tire pressure for 16,17 and 18inch rims? i know what the max pressure is but where do most keep there pressure at? like oem st rims/tire combo what pressure? and 205/40/17 and 215/45/18?

I believe some focus' have 32 listed as well as 34. Mine is a 03 and is listed at 34. But to answer your question you can open your driver door and look there and mine is also at another place; open your gas door and you may see it.

i have an 04 with 205/50/16 and recommended pressure is 29. maybe its different depending on location. anyway i always put a bit more air in.

are different pressures recommended for different tires? i recently got a set of goodyear eagle f1's and the crazy tire people set them at 40+ psi. i put them back down to about 35. 40's just too much i think.

Not really, though if you have a tire that is REALLY stiff you might could lower the psi by 1 or 2.

Chalk test. Google is your friend.

really depends on the tires, unless you are trying to 'tune' your setup by adjusting tire pressure. the tires on my SVT take 50psi. the tires on my truck take 44psi.

What they can take and what they should use are two different things. What's printed on the side wall of the tire is the maximum allowed air pressure to maintain the load rating of the tire. You should never have to use this or even come close to it. Use the recommended inflation pressure posted by the vehicle manufacturer and adjust in one or two pound increments to fine tune.

^^ He realllly misled you. A few thousand miles at that psi and you would be able to tell that the center of the tread was being worn quicker than the rest of the tire.

^^^^ not to mention that's pretty unsafe, for a number of reasons. One being less traction because the tire is rock hard from overinflation.

For the SVT (17-inch rims) the recommended pressures are 32 front, 29 rear. Never go by what is on the sidewall...that is the max pressure for the tire and not what the car was designed for. The amount of pliabilty in your sidewalls is a function of your cars suspension. That's one reason that maintaining the PROPER tire pressures are so important.
