so here's a question. Why not just leave the bottom part of the stock air filter box so that there is no worries about the breather filter?

you could do that, too. i did that and it worked fine as well. it'll actually do a better job of holding the filter in place, too.

and yes, that foam guy is the breather filter. euro needs another morning cup of coffee

Maybe you could even remove the bottom to cut the sides down a bit the put it back in for the breather and support.

heh i did this when i first got my car, thought it was the shiz, looking back, its like looking back at things i thought were cool in middleschool [hihi]

Here's a question...What about putting a peice of flexible hose on the end of the stock air tube and placing it near the grill with a cone filter on the end of the flexible pipe. A homemade ram air system. Would this be doable?

Basically just taking the stock snorkle...putting a filter on the front, and running that into the stock intake? Can be done...with less gains than by replacing the stock airbox. That would be a CAI of sorts....not a ram-air. In order to have ram air, there has to be outside air being forced into the air intake with ducting. Simply putting a CAI near the grille doesn't make it 'ram air'.

Also, ram air doesn't make ANY difference at normal speeds. Such a small amount of air is brought in at speeds under say, 100mph....that it wouldn't be noticable.

BTW.. to fix the "tight fit" issue.. (This may sound a little gross but here goes) KY works wonderfull. It's nice because it's water based, Used it on my car.. It's a trick I use for handlebar rubber on bikes.
