yo guys whats going on listen i have a cold air intake and im worried everytime i drive in the rain water in going in my motor(which is probably tru thats probably why i dont drive in the rain) but i need to get the by pass valve where can i get it ebay isnt cooperating with me and ive gone to a couple of sights already

my advice is go to the second link and get the weathershield AND the bypass valve. the filter gets real dirty where it sits with a cai and the weathershield from myfordperformance.com will greatly help with both.

hey guys i have a aem CAI too and i was wondering i didnt buy anything like that yet and ive drivin in the rain do u actually think i could or ruin'd something i thought it would really only suck up water if i hit a big puddle which i try to avoid , anyways do u think i damage'd anything by driving in the rain ?

think about it your driving in the rain and water is getting sprayed from your tires everywhere its going to get in your motor

i found the weather box thingy , can anyone give me a exact link to the bypass valve...... one of my friends has had one of his car's hydro lock on him , but i was wondering do u think i damag'd anything just from driving like that still seem's to run normal but im a worrier so yea.... i plan on buying these before anything then so if u could give me exact link to bypass valve thx guys work time cya tonite

anyway, yes hydrolock is very possible and not that common. happened to 2 of my friends and a handful of people on this board. warranty wont cover it either so that means ur buying a new engine. my friend actually threw a rod because of it.

The guy at a local garage told me that a year or so ago, the owner of AEM brought his NSX to the shop to demonstrate how well the bypass valve works. He said the guy submerged the filter from the cai into a bucket of water, started the car and revved it for a while. Shows how much faith the guy has in the product, if it's true!
sweet ima order the bypass valve then just hope driving in rain " i didnt hit any big puddle's " didnt ruin anything if it can i dont know much bout car's trying to learn though , most people i talked to said dont worry u prob didnt do anything .... what u guys think?
chances that you'll get hydrolock are not good. you're not going to get it by water splashing on the filter. if it were to be possible, you'd have to completely submerge the filter, and probably rev your engine tro increase the intake response. with just water splashing? it's not gonna collect into a water ball and shoot up in there. just don't drive though puddle that even just barely touch the front bumper.

Personally, I don't think the 1 or 2 Hp difference is big enough to warrant going with a CAI on a daily driver. I would rather use a volant and know that there is very nearly NO chance of hydrolock, than go from 100whp to 102whp by risking my engine. That's just me, and I live in Maryland where the saying goes, "if you don't like the weather in Maryland, wait five minutes". So, with the stupid weather, high water-tables, and everpresent lakes masquerading as puddles, I'll stick with the Volant.

I am lowered 2" with a CIA If I go threw a puddle I try to coast threw it. Or just go around it if at all possible. In the Rain I Remove the Crank Case breather tube. The one that is connected to the head and that makes the connection to the intake a foot or so before the filter to make a open vent to stop hydro lock... maybe in an idiot but o well...
But hey I don’t know “This” car so well yet
OR I may get a crankcase breather and put in a valve so I hit the valve and breather opens to stop hydrolock..
