Header Advise

I own a 2002 FOrd Focus ZX5 w/ one three performace mods:
JBN plug wires, K&N filter (replaced stock filter), and a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust. I am thinking about getting a header (mostly because I think it looks cool) but I want to make sure that I get the best for the money. Let me know what's a good match for the Magnaflow and may not be too expensive.

JBA, MAC,Edelbrock....those r the shorty headers i know off the top of my head...Other companies to check, Focus Central, FocusSport,NewEdge, pretty much anywhere will have them just search

^^ what he said. if you want to stay emissions legal, you will need to keep a cat in tact. so this would leave you with either a shorty header, or going with a complete svt setup (from head to your exhaust pipes). i was looking at this setup for a while. would provide you with one of the better header gains available. svt header, svt flex, svt cat.

I am looking into staying legal in my state (I am in Oregon). By the way my car is an automatic. Where can I see the FR Shorty header to see what it looks like and what it costs?

If you dont care about emissions, then go with a race header, and ive got to recommend the OBX race header you see on ebay. The quality is awesome...completely stainless steel...and only $187 shipped. I went that route, and had no installation problems what so ever, but I dont expect to see the gains of the SVT header, but then again...i haven't been able to get my hands on one of those. I think its a duplicate of the FC 4-2-1 header. But in stainless and MUCH cheaper.

Im happy with my choice (it looks badass also)

Scratch that, just saw you wanted to stay emissions legal...though you might still be better off with the OBX header and RT high flow cat.

if you have the money get something of proven quality...
i would recomenend Ford Racing SVT header and RT cat...the kit will cost arround 700 and you will stay emission legal and have the bennefits of a race header...

Yea nothing says quality like stealing someone elses design, sending it out to be COPIED by some country with mega-cheap 3rd world labor, then selling the product on ebay for super cheap.

There are probably little guatemalan kids making $ .09 an hour assembling those headers but you don't care, no of course not. This is how lil assholes make bigger assholes rich! No, no, by all means, enjoy your "quality" header.

So by giving a person some advice on a quality header, which may or may not be produced in some 3rd world country, that gives you the right to flame? I didn't say, "get this header because if you, your helping to take advantage of little children working their ass off for little to no $$$ just to benefit yourself"? No, I said that it IS a quality header (copy....yes, but better than the origninal). Also said that I would go with the SVT header, by all means, its an awesome header, but ive tried to get one before, im not willing to wait months on back order. I dont know the status of them now, but at the point in which I was in the market, there were none to be found.

thouse header \are NOT of better quality...
all th welds are POS...
i have a friend with one of thuse "combos" on his focus...
they have need re ewldings like 2 -3 times in a year...

POS in my opinion

I am thinking I will need to get a shorty header if I want to comply with emissions in Oregon (all cars here in the Portland area need to pass DEQ). What's a middle of the line shorty header that will go good with my existing cat-back Magnaflow?

The headers are crap, this is common knowledge, they only exist because people like you buy them. Folks who are more about buying something as soon as they can instead of waiting for an obviously superior product.

Sidney, heres a fact for ya, no one here likes you. Why not do everyone a favor and take a long walk off a short pier.

I'll let you know when my header cracks because of shitty welds...oh my bad...its not FC. Its just a copy made of better materials, and hell...you gotta remember, you have 7 year old Guatemalan children making these things...the welds aren't going to be perfect [rolleyes] .

But ya know what, ITS A ******G HEADER. Who cares...I just posted an opinion and you took out a personal vendetta..just end it. I'd rather help support those Guatemalean children rather than XXXX Company who is OBVIOUSLY ripping my ass off.

Yeah, he got a FS/SCT chip installed and deleted the EGR completely. Not sure if there was any more benafit to actually removing the EGR piping after getting it disabled through the chip...But then again I never asked.

Don't be mad at me because you bought something that was cheap.

No one is ripping you off.

The company that made the header in the first place has alot of overhead, some dirtbag stealing their design and having one made cheaper in a foreign country does not.

So before you go shooting off your obviously ignorant mouth, know what your talking about.

If you like getting cheap crap that fine, but don't be all surprised when the market is flooded with cheap crap a la ebay and quality manufacturers don't make as many parts for your application.

You are rediculous....how about you do yourself a favor and just lock this thread, or have a decent mod who actually Moderates.... lock it. The guy isn't getting anymore help than he was when he first started. I tried to help him out, but I get flamed (By a ******g mod none the less) for offering an option. So im just going to close my obviously ignorant mouth, cuz im getting tired of arguing with your bitchy ass.

Btw, El_Pio, are you referring to the SS Autochrome Header, I noticed you said "combo"...I know that header on ebay is complete crap, they had to suppliment you with a flex as well because they used the wrong type of flange, and even at that, it doesn't clear the oil pan.

An ******* wouldnt help me when i PM him at 1 a.m......oh yeah, jeff did. And if I was going to get anything OBX, i'd shut my mouth about it because you cant prove its good and just because you want to save money doesnt mean you should try convincing people that these parts are "just as good". Lets face it, they may be "good enough" to some, but by no means will OBX ever be JBA
