I know it may not be much but right now I can't afford a cold air intake so I want to do somthing to gain a little bit more hp. I recently purchased a K & N drop in filter from newedgeperformance, still waiting for it to come in the mail... lol

Im just wondering what kind of hp gains and engine performance can I expect from a K & N drop in filter?

Yup, 'fraid so. The main benefit of the K & N is it doesn't have to be replaced all the time like a paper filter. I have one in my SVT and I can honestly say I didn't feel any difference at all after adding it, but I still like the fact that all you have to do is clean it off and re-oil it every once in awhile rather than buying a new filter every 10,000 miles or so.

do these filters go in the air box? i've seen one, read on it, but i dunno where it goes per say. i need a cabin filter if that is what you call it.

i have to park under a tree. so while stuff falls down onto my car, i turn on the air and crap starts blowing through the vents. i hate it.

The K & N drop-in is just that - a drop-in replacement for the factory filter, so yeah it goes inside the stock airbox and works exactly the same as the regular ol' factory paper one.

dsk02c, sounds like what you need is indeed the cabin filter - I haven't done it myself but apparently installing it isn't that hard, you just have to be careful when working with the plastic cowl piece not to break anything or damage any seals or you get water leaking in.
